    Back again

Hello everyone! wow. I haven't added anything to this in a LONG time. I was even gonna start another SB and found this one I already had up! Well, here's some stuff - some LOST character studies and some other random sketches.

I will try to keep adding more regularly!

    Thumbs up

I tried to insert a clever name for your sketchbook *here*, and nothing happened

Anyway, really cool cartoony style. I'll be watching this thread. Post more.

    Sanejack,

I really enjoy your work. Where did you pick up your style? Who have been some of your favorite artists?

p sage, goma14, nancy_kelpie, Eva K - Thx for the compliments everyone! Much appreciated!

Diabolique - Thx! Yeah, I've been using Photoshop for a while now, but I've only recently started to really explore different painting techniques - I'm still really new at color, but every now and then I'll paint a piece and post it on here and you guys can give me tips and feedback!

yoooee - I'm glad u like my stuff! some say my art has alot of Disney and Warner Bros. animation influences, 'cause that's what I grew up on - two artists' work I REALLY love and admire are Glen Keane and Florian Satzinger. They have such an amazing style that lends itself well to illustration and animation - plus, Satzinger's work is so imaginative! I love it.

    Here's s'more shtuff:

BTW, something I really struggle with is just figuring out what to draw - I'm constantly looking for ideas and inspiration for what to draw, and if anyone out there would like to see me draw something in particular or have some cool ideas for characters and would like to see me design something for ya, I'd be MORE than happy to! I love to hear other people's ideas and concepts and I REALLY thrive on direction!

    Great update, btw.

As far as ideas go... I know my mind likes to take things it sees and combine those things with totally unrelated things. There's never really a "pure" new idea... it's always some kind of cobbling of two or more old ideas.

Maybe that will get you a jump start.

p sage - I know what you mean - something I've gotten in the habit of doing is going through old sketchbooks and re-drawing old sketches by giving them a fresh new take - it really helps to see how you've improved as well and how differently you approach a drawing this time around.

Nice stuff! Definitely seeing the Disney influence -- and glad to see it used well. If you're still looking for something to draw, I've got some characters/creatures that I haven't yet been able to do justice to:

    Whimsy:

A fairy princess of sorts, charming and temperamental. Her wings are a bit like butterfly wings, but with more parts, some of them elongated, swirling and spiraling. Her costume includes a mask on a similar theme, various bits of jewelry, and many-layered, flower-like skirts that hide her feet as she hovers. A remarkable sight, altogether, but perhaps a bit... much.

    Weavers:

Elegant and alien, centaur-like insect/humanoid creatures, with four insect-like legs and four human-like arms. Their faces are elongated, fey. Sometimes they use their long fingers to weave webs like dreamcatchers, strung with beads like gems, or stars, or worlds. Sometimes they spin, unravelling bits of reality for the fiber.

    Baku:

A Japanese mythological creature, like a mix between a lion, a tiger, and an elephant -- with horns for good measure. They use the trunk to eat nightmares. They're definitely the good guys, but they also need to look predatory enough to tackle those nightmares, and (somehow) not too goofy. Despite the trunks.

These are all concepts for a 2D adventure game I'm cobbling together. If you'd like to draw any of them, I'd be delighted. If not, I'll still be hanging around to see what you do next.

ohh, never heard of florian satzinger before, but after looking...damn,he sure has some nice stuff.
scribbles are looking good... me,i'm rather fascinated by pilgrim outfits (i think it stems from addams family 2),because of their geometrical simplicity (atleast for females)....so perhaps a cute pilgrim girl?

@Morgan_R - thx! Hey, great characters! I would LOVE to come up with some designs! thank you so much. I love doing this kind of stuff - and if you like my concepts for your characters, please send me more! I will get started right away!

@Carnifex - you know who else I like is Nick Bradshaw. He's got some very cool comic art! He's done some Army of Darkness and Danger Girl stuff - and many more. He's awesome - check him out!
And pilgrim girl it is! I'll do that one after I try Morgan_R's characters! thx, buddy!
