Frank Gressie: Any chance you'll tell me what those anatomy faults are? Kindof annoying when people say there's a problem but don't tell you what it is...

    no87: Thanks

I started this character in greyscale and then overlayed colour, i realised this is a pretty shit method and gave up. Straight to colour is better for me

Newest SP is definitely the best yet. Yeah, the colors look a little off in the grayscale > color overlay method.

looking good here, i like the green guy! the pose looks good and stable (he's not falling over). The self portrait is pretty good as well, the only thing i got against it is the eyes look to unnatural. You did a good job on the skin tone as far as i can tell as well. Although the green guy needs a little work on that department. Just look at some refs and all will be well.
My observational skills may be great but i said nothing about my drawing skills

U're always getting better... keep it up! But i would work a little bit longer on your paintings... beaby some outlines or a clearlier ending of the shapes, unlike on the chin (SP #5). Or did u loose your patience, huh...? ^^ (as i always do)

    cheers

Meissner: Mmm i'm kinda like the improvement too. I've had some really shit self-portraits in the past. Thanks
My57: Yeah I just gave up on the green dude, that method sucks for skin tones. How do you mean my eyes look unnatural? Cheers
shumizu: Lost the patience and had to be quick because it was getting darker. Yeah I'm gonna be doing some longer pieces now. Cheers
    MacTire: Thanks

I'm on livestream it seems: http://www.livestream.com/samc
I was skeptical at first but i got some really great crits and ideas that hadn't occured to me with this piece

Dude, your pieces are shaping up real good! What I think Myst means about the eyes is that they're sort of flat, you need to show the form more. Add more of a gradient, and go darker on the shadow side of the eye balls. Hope it helps some. Keep at it man, you're progressing way too fast!

WOah Sam! Am back from Canada so will comment again. Love ur progress in the month I was gone. Especially in the potraits. It's insane man. The increasement in detail and accuracy is really well visible. And so is the correctness of color and your painting technique. About your potraits are you working from photographs or from a mirror. Ow and that last char is your best character ever. Propotions are pretty good man. Damn lots of love and keep it rocking.

I think its b/c of the lack of eye lashes in there. Im not to sure how to judge your self portraits b/c i dont know what you look like, so i could be wrong and you could be right. So just keep on doing self portraits and you will improve anyways.

Gah, I haven't been commenting here in a loong time... MAN, YOU ARE IMPROVING!!! Makes me feel really bad to have been so lazy with my own studies, time to do something about it, I see.
No, you're doing absolutely great, and I especially love watching your SPs, which just are getting better and better and better.
So just keep on improving, keep working on the faces, and have a good time with it!

    Wow, comments

Meissner: I wasn't really sure, but Saturns Gate suggest some weird alien shit in his hand so i went with that. Cheers

PieMonster: Thanks man, appreciate the advice alot

jordyskateboardy: Wow thanks bro, i work from a mirror, i find the cameras tend to fuck up colour, also you can squint and see different values and colours, but in a photo it just all blurs. Thankss man

My57: Thats probably it, eyelashes are hard because i always end up making the guys looks girly by accident haha. Cheers

    Mokinzi: Thanks a lot

Zorcron: Mmmm yeah i get you, i didn't really spend too long on it. Cheers

    laxon: Thanks

Yea man fricking sweet, but comon it's not finished lol. Hang on to it for like 2 more hours. Polish the legs up give some more detail etc. Looks a bit sloppy compared to the rest. The face and hand are like super awesome and the rest still looks a bit to unfinished. Still it's like your best piece ever. Love your improvement man. Almost got rid of my jetlag so I'll start updating daily tommorrow. Promise! Luvs Jordy.

    impressive improvement sam!
That sp on top of this page looks realllly good, especially the colors are great.

And good to see you pushing yourself on that last characterdesign, that's definately paying off.
One little thing that looks distracting to me is the unfortunate tangent between his squid hand and the connection of his chestbelt-things.
at first glance it looked to me as if he was holding that metallic object in his hand. You might wanna rearrange it a bit or at least the two fingers that look like they're holding it to separate these two. and maybe add some more detail to his right arm and gun.
    Really strong piece though.
    Keep it up, buddy.

You did a pretty good job on the last one. Some areas lack detail and the face needs slight improvement but otherwise good. When i say lack of detail i mean the gun and his legs. Try looking at boot references. - Thats about it really. Good pose and facial expression.

monotony: Mmm it needs more work, will study more. Yeah I edited that chestbelt out in the end, having straps crossing instead didn't really take anything away. Thanks for the help.

jordyskateboardy: Nah I can't really be bothered with it anymore, cheers

Semi-Reffed doodle; the helmet, chest and arm armors are referenced, the pose is mind and so will the rest of the armour

I'm running out of days to hit my target of getting freelance this month, need to do some more finished stuff. I've become really lazy but I think having work will give me a reason to paint, a purpose.

i like the armour and the pose seems good. Slightly funny and out of character but w.e. its funny xD

and your creature is good, i like how you added texture to it! - However im not super crazy about the pose. I think it could use some work there... Thats all there really is for crits.

My57: You can't judge someones character by a suit of armour Yeah I tried the pose out, its doable, but it lacks purpose. I'm considering adding a club or something. I should think this shit through more

Jaytea: Who in their right mind would want to sketch like this D: Thanks all the same

OmertA: mmm need more of the observing bit, cheers

Awful sketch of ma bro, but I'm pushing away from lines anywho. Is that the right way to go? I'm not so sure whether I should be drawing how I paint or keeping it as a separate process

hey SAMC! nice SB brotha! one thing i usually notice about ur drawings is that hands look out of place sometimes. i like the last one, its funny but i agree with monotony about the hand and the squid. first impression i thought the squid was harvesting the guys hand bones. Great faces, keep it up sammy
