    Hey Sam!

Been a while buddy - I finally start checkin out CA again and you've improved!

Nice one - all this study is giving your pics much more confident lines

But - you still drawing jelly-people a bit I see :/ hmm I guess you could think of it as remember the human body is more like a mech with bio on top than a blob of bio with structure floating around inside... errrrm does that make sense?

Anyways - I'm liking what I'm seeing with the improvement - keep going!

    WOW!
You've come on leaps and bounds since the last time I browsed through your book. Your shading's improved and not as rough as it was, it blends well. I like the self portraits but it could help adding the background to see how you cope with scale and making your head stand out [if you see what I mean].

Your anatomy's coming along very well although is it all from the books? If so try out your memory. Try different positions thus testing foreshortening and perspective.

Your painting is a definite strong point. I like how you blend the colours and create good form. Nothing critical I can say really as I could learn a thing or two from you.

Your progress is a wonder to see. Keep going.

TheArtist: Hey! Nice to see you back. Wasn't sure what you meant so I did that (rather awful) skeleton study, did you mean that some places in the bio are closer to the bone that the others (shoulders, ends of arms and legs.) And any chance of starting the perspective lessons again? Cheers.

Some stuff I really don't like, some reffed, some not. This finished my a4 sketchbook

So I went to town and bought an A3 because I figured it'd be cool for my lines and rendering to have to stretch, and I'll not take a4 for granted. Not sure how to scan this so this is only a small portion of the page:/

Aghh I felt like I was starting out again with the face on the right, everything seemed so spaced afterwards, I'll do way more rendering in a3 as I think it'll make my a4 renders really tight. Left is somewhat weird self-portrait.

Any tips on drawing on a3 or scanning it would be cool

A3 is giving some nice big scans. One thing about drawing bigger is that you can use the side of your pencil more to lay down tones. Then refine them with the tip. It takes some getting used to but you just use the same technique of following the forms with your strokes, but your strokes are thicker and better suited to large areas. You can also change your grip on the pencil and use your arm more rather than your wrist, which tends to give smoother and looser lines.

The side of your pencil feels different against the grain of the paper though. It might be hard to get smooth tones with the side of your pencil if the paper you're using is quite grainy.

kick ass, your rendering isnt displaying the same emotion yet though, try draw in your own blood, that usually helps me out

Man Made God: Cheers for the sound advice

Nrx: My line work ain't that good yet But thanks. I really need to work on rendering, but I think it's just one of those things that will come with time and hard work.

    Lilnebo: Thanks.

Some stuff today, off the spurt and back onto the plateau

Life sketch of my mum, damn it's way too small, thats like half a page of a large moleskine. And the hair line around that dark bit is way too far back.

    Easy on the darks dude :0 Say this were a whole painting, if you did the dark areas of the skin that dark, how would you say make darker objects in the background look darker, if you have already used most of the value range on the skin! :{

Basically you can make the skin lower contrast and keep the really dark areas in places like the pupil and just onder the eyebrow. This will make the hair and the eyes/nostrils and all the other darkerst areas pop from the canvas more.

Anyway its a snow day so I WONT see you in school!

Two face studies of Charlize Theron, this first one's structure is pretty messed up and the seconds one shows no resemblance but I like it.

Hey, thanks for dropping by my SB. I just went through your SB, from page 1, and I must admit that I am inspired by your dedication. Makes me want to draw more

I can see hell lot of improvement. Looking forward to more sketches. All I can say now is don't stop and keep it up.

Fenixx: I'm glad to hear you've got some inspiration, now use it I still have a loong loongg way to go though

Had another snow day but stayed in thinking I was gonna draw loads and then basically just thought about drawing loads. Bad stuff.

Moleskin sketch. This took like an hour and a half? Hard to tell. Wasn't really sure where the idea was going so the rest of the body remains undesigned. Was just really trying to experiment with rendering.

    Hey Dude,

Sorry I'm not really around much at the mo - I do keep dropping by CA to keep up with things at least though

Ya'know what is so exciting about all you young awesome-in-progress artists it's seeing those glimpses of real talent and knowing it's on it's way! Lilnebo is another I've really started to see this with - both you guys have a great work ethic but need to focus and really finish some pieces

Not everything is work and just to work towards some future goal - really stretch yourself and every now and then try to create a few pics with every bit of art knowledge you have.

Also I second mr jedininjaman - some of your studies seriously rock dude with the confidence of line etc - lets see it out of study situ too

I will work on your next perspective task soon - till then just keep it up buddy!

Nice studies! Keep using refs for the digital works and improvements will show in no time! Watch your strokes though. In that latest digital piece you have some strokes that don't look right.

Man the the latest head study's look like a big jump in improvement from you sp.
One of your earlier thunder domes with the dwarf dude his face is pretty awesome.
But remember with your work try to be more delicate rendering and try to refrain from using to much bulk shading with the same shade, pay attention to all colour/light progression. Thanks for dropping by on my sb as well.

    Currently looking for work!

    Woah.

jedininjaman: I will try, thank you

The7Artist7: Yeah thunderdomes I get 2 hours, so i usually spend an hour on a face and then just draw blobs for the rest of it Will try harder to crack out some finished pieces, need to get a grip on skin first though. Cheers

    Reject D: Thanks

jackpot_anjr90: Yeaahh about that. I really need to use reference more lol. The strokes are probably wrong on everything in that, it was so rushed. Cheers.

    fenixx: Thanks

Sketchz: My rendering needs a lot of work, will do more life shit. Cheers.

    bigfooT: Cheers buddy

Some character. It was ridiculously out of proportion so i crudely photoshopped it. And the gun is out of perspective. Should have done more construction really but having all the construction lines looks terrible and it's so hard to get rid of.
