Hey guyyssss! I don't usually write much but figured some kinda update would be nice. Been struggling a lot this last month with incorporating freelance work into my routine. I've only gotten two fairly small jobs for personal clients, but balancing that with finding time to study for like 4-6 hours a day as well as competition stuff I'm doing for the bloodsports challenges is a little but confusing to try and arrange in. The competition stuffs kinda replaced what would usually be my personal work which has kinda killed it for me a little bit. I get very self-conscious about what other people wanna see when it comes to competition work because the whole point is to impress people. I usually just end up thinking about it so much that I actually end up with a really shitty idea that nobody wants to see. Theres just such a huge pressure knowing that not only are all your peers going to see your work, but they're also doing the same thing in a really awesome way. The common advice to get over this is just to paint what you enjoy, which I'm finding really hard to do since everything at the moment is for other people. SO, long story short, I'm gonna try and do 2 of my own personal illustrations every month, starting next month, on top of the bloodsport challenges, on top of work, on top of studying. I'll see how it goes next month to judge how long I'm going to try it, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna regret it haha

Anyway, heres some art! 2 hours from life!

HI Sam i checked your stream and realised that i was doing the exact same pose, i mean completly the same thing as your Komodo commando,
so i'm going to re-do mine :o ( i had no idea haha)
the one difference is that mine is Alpha Albert, the incredible augmented gorilla.

Great work as always, keep up!

I love the color in your swamp elder piece! The red in the knight's cloak contrasts beautifully with the cool background. Excellent work in general, really! Subscribed!

It's nice to see every color in those busts, but white. Love it! Good painterly strokes too.

Your studies are soo legit. Beautiful interpretation of colour and textures throughout this book and your pencil sketches have so much movement and energy. I appreciate your skills very much, especially how you depict metal/armour. So dang shiny and awesome. That plastic doll is mad though, so easy to tell its plastic cuz of a few extra strokes. im done now.

Hey Sam, I just went through this whole thread... good stuff! It's awesome to see all of your dedication and hard work pay off. I especially love how you handle your digitals, you make it look like wet paint.

Considering doing stuff that you enjoy... I really liked your walking dead poster and I had the feeling that you enjoyed painting it, so maybe that kind of "fan art" could be a direction for your personal illustrations. Think about stuff you like and try to come up with ways that you would like to see it promoted.

Thanks guys! And yea Tetro, the Walking Dead piece was reaalllyy fun! I'm gonna be making pieces directed to trading card games so I dunno about lots of fan art though

My entry for the Bloodsports 4 Challenge, along with its respective studies.
For me, Legend of Lizards is a kids TV show about a boy, Robby Reptilia and his two uncles, Komodo Commando and Captain Chameleon, who have excavated a pre-historic ruin. Inside, they find 3 magical power artifacts that has the power to transform these normal archaeologists into ripped lizard men. Its awesome.

Also, I was digging through files and noticed 2 self-portraits, done at the beginning and end of 2011, guess I had a pretty big change last year which is awesome! Hope my work looks all different again next year!

This is insane .. Iv been skipping through your sb every ten pages. It's so incredibly inspiring to see such improvement happening from page 1 to the amazing artist you are today.

Moments just shouting "HOW!!" at the monitor. I'm only on page 3 of my sb but all the toil and hard would be so worth it to reach even a fraction of your level at page 75

Man I hope I'm doing right
