Nice stuff lately, I'm digging the vids. I would love to see you pop the forms in a few pieces and flesh out the rendering... you know, like push the full value range in the forms with a blending soft brush (something I've been practicing lately). Otherwise, kick ass improvements... PUUUUSH!!!!
Thanks guys! really apreciate the comments, I'm just taking a little break from "posting" I'll be back soon.
1st sketch I liked the colors so I did the second as "note" for a full drawing I wanted to remember
in the first you can see the only rendered part I did was her ear
Quick J.S.S study, the original is B&W but i added color cause i suck
and quick character sheet with a step two on one of the monks (yeah the tuxedo guy sucks its just a note I'll get reference for him when I polish him up) I'm cleaning em' up in B&W then will add color
more work on the red guy and some , discarded panels, I like the rocks in the first panel, that is all
So I'm back and my goal is to update daily, I have been keeping busy , actually have updated my Facebook more than my skbk! I have a new sketchbook I bought for 5$ at Borders its like a knockoff version of the moleskine , but I've been loving it I'm already half way thru it. On the other side of things I've been re-working some older ps paintings. I have a lot in the air. So I'll just do a little post my scanner should be back on by tonight so hopefully I can scan some stuff.
I plan to work on some cover illo's you'll prob see some re-workings of previous stuff, like thor mountain/ spiderwoman etc. I've really been wanting to paint oils again so I'm building a Medusa (inhumans marvel comics) faux cover around that. So hopefully I'll be sharing alot of that with you guys asking for advice theirs a Convention in April actually in the city of Chicago (not rosemont) I hope to attend and have some cover and sequentials done to show to editors.
I've also been working on Story currently prioritizing 3 -Red Rabbit, Clochette & Flame for a Heart which you've seen some development for here in the skbk.
Anyhow I've got to get back to thumbnailin'here's to a month of updates!
OK sketches that follow
-Odst quick doodle
-Alchemy sketches
-quick photoshop sketch
-rework of an oldie
-quick sketch of a Burberry ad I did in my "new" sketchbook while watching some RomCom

-more opaque color added "painted on"
-just a quick sketch messing with the "hardness" of the brushes I use
- a little texture experimentation on above piece
Ok their's ton's more where that came from but believe it or not it takes me a quite a while to upload them and/or scan so I'll just leave it here for now see you guys tomorrow !

yeh ! keep them comming![]()
nice that you draw so much and you try different things out
i dont know if im right realy cuz im alot worser than you in drawing and painting but i think you might try to use more contrast in some of your pics .. yea actualy thats my problem i gues ;D well ..
or maybe my monitor is fucked hah
i just got my internet and am trying to post daily too !
so right on brother
Getbuck- Thanks for the comment I'll try and keep an eye on contrast
Ok my scanners still m.i.a. so I took some picks of my sketchbook with my cell phone
- First up a pic of the "new " sketchbook I've actually been using, mentioned it a couple posts ago has thin paper sorta like printer paper takes colerase really well, and actually regular #2 not bad , and can actually take ink while it may buckle if you use a lot it doesn't bleed thru so I'm really enjoying it.
- Quick ink of a cartoony girl
-Medusa sketch
-action doodles
- The rest are thumbs for possible Medusa ( of marvel comics inhumans ) cover/image/portfolio. the last being a quick ps color over one of them to try and get a feel for what I actually want to try with "REAL" paint.
- last is a real quick "phtoshp thumb"
ok there's more but I think that'll be enough for now.

i like your doodles from your sketchbook. would like to see more of them![]()
derss- Thanks for the comment mate!
Ok a bit of a smaller post today, here are some of the illos I was working/reworking you'll remember the spiderwoman from a quicksketch a couple page or so ago the Zerg I don't think has enough energy. The Spiderwoman I kinda like but am not blown away I'm going to have to redraw the body to match one that makes more sense for the action she's supposed to be doing. I've also been working on painting a little more messy in photoshop at least in the preliminary sketch stages, just wiping out a whole arm with a brush stroke and redrawing it with a large brush stroke I can go in and tighten it up later if necessary.
Also a quick Alchemy sketch colored in ps.
Today the plan is to Gather references for some comic pages. So if all goes well I'll post maybe some thumbs tomorrow.
Ok quick post so as not to miss my daily update. This started as a quick sketch in alchemy then quick colors in photoshop. Afterwhich I decided to make some variant studies of it
will post more tommorow-----![]()
I've had this on my desk since the beginning of november just waiting to be inked, haven't had any time and my scanner's (still) on the fritz so here's some bad cell phone pics , But I'll upload some nice color versions when I get the time. It's my take on Gohan and Trunks of DBzzz fame
Ok really quick heres something I did for a friends party : possible party invites (front)
quick post something I was working on yesterday
character head
and something that looks like a superhero would look on acid
quick wip, pretty much paintin directly so to speak
- I see Team CHOW is back hmm been wanting to join that.
I actually played a little COD MW2 last night online with some friends , and it was FUN not that I'm any "good" but it was fun, great way to unwind. After that I wanted to draw something to cool down and get going to bed so I recall I wanted to get back into painting/drawing portraits, J. Manley had said to simply start drawing for example if you draw one a day for a month you'll be way better at the end of the month than you were at the beginning. It seems like common sense and in some ways it is. So I decided give it whirl. Man I'm rusty! I had to keep making sooo many adjustments to the eyes/nose/mouth general structure pretty much throughout the painting! But it felt good to try and figure out why "thats wrong" (what I had put down) and fix it or try to. In the end I got it close enough . Maybe I'll try the daily thing we'll see what my schedule allows
Todays Portrait, was a hard angle don't know if I got the likeness as much as I'd like but its time to move on

'nother quick update, Here's a phone pic of a skbk page, and a pic of a cake I helped make this weekend. Everything's edible the cap is Rice crispi's put in the freezer and covered in fondant
nice! updating daily is so cool! that comment about updating Facebook more often than your sketchbook is so true! i get caught up in the most time-wasting things and when i come to my senses, the day is over.
a cool practice that i think would benefit you would be to study skin tones of different races. Caucasian, African-American, Asian, Indian, etc. understand what colors transverse from the darks to the lights. (dark purple to light brown to white, etc) then do studies of a minimum of 4-5 values on the face either in color or greyscale with color adjustment layers to understand the different values of each race. caucasian skin reflects light much differently than a dark african-american. you'll start to see that skin sucks the light and reflects what's underneath it rather than thes surface. it's a living organ, not clay you are trying emulate. take notes when you sketch life around you and see in 3d. ask questions why the light is there, and not there.
the more you sketch the more you will be able to apply this to other things in life and art.
keep up these daily arts and keep pushing. this is inspiring me to update daily as well (though i'm not sure if i could follow through with it as you, lol). ;]
