Daily sketch HELP!

Hello CA!

I need help with this piece of mine:


I'm making it for todays daily sketch group. But how should I make the face and how can I make my strokes and lines cleaner?

I'm now color picking with alt and on a low opacity but im not satisfied.

Please help! the subject is:

...maybe use a bigger softer edged brush when painting, you can cover more area and get more even strokes.

I would suggest doing a few more sketches before settling on one design. I cant work out whats going on at the moment, and you need to make that clear...If you have done so already, then please post 'em

Yeah I agree with Molly. Rather than just using different opacity adjust the softness of your brush and dont be afraid to use really low opacity, like in the 1-10 range. Its a bit tedious but it will help with your blending until youre a little more confident. Your composition could use some work. Its very central right now. I would say keep the rule of thirds in mind and try to work in some more diagonals to make this dude really dynamic. That smoky tail thing could really be played with some more. As far as the face goes thats really up to you. Personally he seems like the mask type to me. Some sort of fencing hood might be cool. Im always a fan of Japanese noh masks as well. Hannya can get a little played out but some of the other oni (demons) have some real character. Anyway those are just some suggestions. Good luck.
