Hey there, been on here for about 2 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience thus far. I'm just an image maker looking to improve his skills as best he can and one day make a living from my artwork. I would appreciate it if you gave insightful critiques of my work and avoid as any "ass-patting" comments as much as possible (which is something I am guilty of myself and not doing anymore). While I do appreciate any (and all) positive feedback sent my way, I would also like to hear about my shortcomings so I can work to improve on them. If you give me valid critiques of my work, I will most definitely stop by your sketchbook and return the favor.

You have a lot of nice stuff going here. The anatomy studies, and master studies are very nice. The lady in the second post is really nice too, but there is something about the head that is bothering me... can't seem to put my finger on it.

EDIT: Oops, I forgot to mention. Love the political works from the first post. Its great when something can make you laugh for a minute before leaving you pensive over the truth of the statement.

Hey man, those ball-point pen master studies are fan-friggin-tastic. I wanna see you go through at least two pens a week with your sketchbook!

Good mix of 'made up' stuff and studies. You have a tendency to draw big heads (I do it too), so look out for that.

Love the IPOD idea, but wish that the white figure was drawn in abit more of a stylised way - the black linework seems abit weak.

Euthyphro: I think her face looks off because I never finished the sketch. It was a 20 min sketch session and decided to focus on the body more since I have a tendency to just draw faces. These days I've been doing the opposite, focusing more on body parts than the face. If there is something else you had in mind then let me know.

SEVANS: Yeah the linework is weak. I need to soften/round/straighten the edges on those line ends. They look blocky.

Hey Peetaer, thanks for dropping by my book. I see a lot of good stuff going on here - master studies and anatomy are good for you! I'd like to see you focus more on porportion. Measuring distances and measuring angles are your friends. Also use negative space as often as possible to help you get shapes right.

Wow lots of stuff here, Great sketchbook, you Really captures the essencse (sp?) of Brigeman's style, I love it so rough and straight and yet you capture the gesture very very well.. just great.

I really like the way you hatched some of your more rendered pieces. more specficely the figure stuff..

Great stuff so far... I always get amused when I see the loomis fun heads
I detect that you have a similar problem than I have, some bodies and heads seem unbalanced. like the left part is narrower than the right part like in the girl
from post 2 or the statue head (maybe is made that way). Maybe is just that you are drawing in a stranger posture where you can have the paper straight.

Aushan: Thanks for the compliments and crits. You really have a sharp eye. Yes, you are right, I have been drawing a lot of these sketches with a "strange posture". I need to get a sketching table. No dinero right now.

Hey man, great to see you incorporating Hogarth studies into the mix. One critique, and it may just be drawn this way in Hogarth's book, on the drawing below, the head seems either a little too low or the shoulder blades seem a little high...for some reason it just looks off to me. And the angle of his right pectorial muscle seems a bit sharp. I may be off, just goin' with the ole' gut. Keep up the good work man, enjoying watching this SB grow.

SixPrism: Yeah, I felt like it was a bit low myself. I think I made it a tad bit lower in my sketch than it was in the Hogarth book.

My only suggestion is perhaps less outlining, and to work on line quality.

For the ones you've posted so far, I would say your arm studies are the best.

Dude, you've got greaaaaaaat anatomystudies!
I really like those high-conrast sketches, especially the ones drawn with ballpen! Also nice way of rendering. Keep at it!
