Dayle Hi and thanks!Things are going ok thanks
How are you? I see life drawing has started again, might make it down in a couple weeks.
Wassim Thanks very much, I'm working on the realistic stuff
Update A few sketches, just playing with pencil technique and cross hatching.
Some colour layers
Update Some quick gestures, a photoshop brush practice and an ink doodle.
i like how the figure holding a knife is a like a ghost, very light and nice colors
the sketch of the girl holding a cat is great too: very sketchy and loose
Love all the caricatures; you do seem to capture the essence of people. And you life drawings are great - I'd like to see more of them. Keep rocking.
Hi, Just took a spin back thru your sb from the beginning! Love your caricatures!
Sophia Loren from waaaaay back when is excellent! Vivian Westwood...well...what can I say...she has a face just dying to be caricaturized!Love how you handled that!
The Fish Called Wanda pics of Cleese and Jamie Lee are really tasty...didn't see if you finished that tho.
Diggin the hot mamacita in 663 and 664 and the gestures in 665!
Keep 'em coming!

zou Thanks very much
Black Spot Thank youI'm going back to life drawing soon, I'll make sure I post them, cheers.
Zephyr X Hiya, it's a while since I looked at all this from the start, thanks very much for taking the timeSophia and Vivenne were fun to draw, Viv is definitely a caricature in real life, almost too easy lol
I'm taking a break from the Wanda pic, but I'll get back to it.
Thanks again!
Sketch dump
very refreshing update !
various things and topics
i see some structure flaws (like th guy with violon or the last one) that when fixed would take those drawing to another level
when seeing the first one, i think you can create some funny and awesome character in short strip or comics !
keep having fun![]()
Your caricatures are nice but I'm sure you know that. What really stood out to me were those watercolor pieces of the rocks. You took something boring and made it lovely to look at. That camel is badass too. Keep it up.
Hi zou thanksI'm trying to vary what I draw a bit more, not always successful lol Thanks for the observations I'll work on the John Howe one a bit more (the bottom dude) and will do
Flanagan Thanks for visiting and the lovely comments
Aeon Flux and the guy is supposed to be Ryan Gosling (on tracing paper) but I did it really fast in pen and it doesn't really look like him, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it![]()

i like very much the running girl![]()
Thanks zoushe's for the Dynamic Energy challenge
Just a play around on Photoshop over the ink drawing of 'almost' Ryan Gosling
La Rouxxxxx - Done in red pastel (didn't scan very well) on tracing paper, am liking the tracing paper![]()

wow, great work.
Never tried the tracing paper and pastel, it seems awesome.
thumbs up
Thanks zouI like how it's smooth enough to erase highlights and smudge easily, definitely recommend it.
Coloured in photoshop
Very cool caricatures, they all have something really cute over them.
I love these peeps.
That red hair is freakin' sick! Nice. The only thing that pops out is the top of her skull seems flat when it should be more rounded. Keep it up!
Hi again,
Thanks for droppin in and commenting over at my sb! Lovin the new updates.
Especially the caricatures in ink (4th image) in #669!
And I'm lovin the way La Rouxxxxx is looking!
Your style reminds me a bit of Mort Drucker's caricatures in old Mad Magazines! Are you at all familiar with him?
It's sad because I can't find any books/collections with his work. Maybe someday people will start to remember him again!!
Oh...and I'm up for a challenge sometime when things slow down a bit...but am pretty sure you'll kick my butt when it comes to caricaturing!

Like the Nigel Kennedy and The Young Ones (hubby went on tour with them).
Ludic Thanks very much
Thanks Flanagan Yeah I noticed that too about her head but I was already committed to it so I was going to fix it in Photoshop and forgot.
Jephyr X Thanks very muchYeah I love Druckers style, he was an early influence
along with Rockwell of course

and I've just finished reading The complete book of caricature by Bob Staake: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Complete-Boo...178658&sr=1-79 It's a good read and he references Drucker alot with all the other greats
(I also discovered this too just now

http://www.deadlinedemon.com/ might be my christmas present to myself
) Cool you're up for something, no worries about timeframe, usually things pick up before Christmas for me too, anytime is good after that
Blackspot ThanksWow your hubby must have a few tales to tell from that?

nice update
i like them all
the last one could be enhanced by making the hair line more like the jaw line wich stand for itself (not repeated anywhere in the drawing)
hey don't forget the international day of self portrait
cheers mate
The7Artist7 Thanks very much
zou ThanksI've gone over the hair a bit and also left the head the original shape (the first version I'd altered in PS and don't like it as much) thanks for the crit.
I totally missed self portrait day

update some CA peeps, the caricature's a commission for someone at work, a watercolour doodle and the start of a photo study![]()
Good updates. Looove that last study. I that from life or photograph?
I'm making mess here: Sketchbook.

Cool people:
Rotor | Kristoff | Kingkostas | Angel Intheuk | bbwolf
Hiya WitcrackThanks very much, it's from a photograph, I hope I don't mess it up
Some sketches I did on the train to my folks
haha PPPPPOOOOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!!! I LUV YER CARICATURES !!!! AN IS THAT DAVID GARRETT WITH A MOHAWK IN #669 XD AEON FLUX XD MMRRRAAAOOOORRRRR PLEASE!!!!!!!!XDXDXD
Those 'blast from the past' drawings are amazing! Lots of fun.
It also seems that through all these portraits and caricatures, you can now control a wide range of varying facial features. There's lots of variation in those faces, and it often takes you just a few lines to indicate them. Pretty good. I was hoping to see you participate in this years International Self Portrait day, but I didn't spot you. (or I missed your entry)
I like the train sketches, you must have referenced your own hand. I especially like the approach, trying both observational and construction.
If anything, Id advice more value/form practice. Most of your work relies heavily on lineart, even finished work. Things occasionally look flat. I think value studies would really reinforce your work by adding feel of solidity and mass. Will affect linedrawings too.
