Lightbulb Contemporary Artists - Post your favorites!

I'm thinking mainly outside the world of concept and illustration.

This Is Malcolm Liepke. I absolutely fell in love with his work.

    Here are a couple links...

    OMG!

I had to come back and post. His work is spectacular. Some of the faces remind me of leyendeckers stuff so much.

Did you see the prices he would sell some of those paintings for? Very well deserved though...

    Thanks once again JTJ.

    Do you have any more?

Nice links, guys. Joshua, that was a great find. I was just flipping through Ryden's book the other day and loved his work. If you pick up a copy of Juxtapoz you will see a host of artists trying to follow (a little too closely) in his footsteps.

You probably all know him, but he's to amazing to not mention.

    Check out Shawn Barber's Site

    Shawn Barber.
    www.sdbarber.com
This Guy is a teacher at Ringling School of Art.
Check out the FAQ section on his site, lots of good stuff we all need to hear there.
He's an illustrator, but I think the title of "artist" definately applies.

    Mike Hussar.
Mike Hussar is another guy. He paints some fantastic pieces. check this out. http://www.laluzdejesus.com/shows/pr...002/hussar.htm
If you live in the Pasadena Area, there is a few pieces of his hanging in a coffee shop off Colorado. The place is called The Equator, it's in the alley where Jake's is.

Great thread! I want to say thank you especially to Joshua for posting the links to Malcolm Liepke's works ... I never knew about them until now, and frankly, I've fallen in love with his work too. And Mike Hussar's stuff rock!

Anyways, my top fav contemporary artist has to be Katsuya Terada. The following are some pieces he made for X-Men Unlimited and Hellboy, and some from his various artbooks:

    http://www.catsuka.com/interf/insoli..._unlimited.jpg (This one's pretty big.)

You can see more of his stuff here.

Yeah, Skip Liepke is pretty sweet, as well as many of these other people. Here's a few people:

this guy is Greg Swearingen. I am mighty impressed with his work, especially his colors. His originals are every bit as immaculate as his prints, too. Cool stuff. You can find him on shannonassociates.com

This guy's a fine artist named Claudio Bravo:

Paints everything from the life, and it shows! See his work on http://www.puc.cl/faba/ARTE/AUTORES/BravoObrasI.html

Lot of good art on this thread. Me want more!

everyone needs to at least see these artists:

Morgan Weistling(morganweistling.com): he is above and beyond one of the best fine-art painters on the planet. Hes the youngest person ever to win the prix de west, which hopefully everyone knows about. Regardless of subject matter, hes a genuis.

Daniel F. Gerhartz: Another amazing painter. Study with schmid for a while. Now he can outpaint him any day of the week.

Harley brown:harleysworkshop.com) Hands down the best pastellist in the world.

Richard schmid: He's a phenomenal draftsman, but looking at his stuff gets old quick.

John Asaro: great loose painter, amazing colorist.

There are many more, but these few are really gifted people. Its not concept art, or fantasy or comic stuff. This is just good ol' fashioned fine art at its best.
