    Hi,
I didn't really introduce myself very well in my first post.
    My name is Scott Payne.
    I was born in 1968.
At school ,I was always daydreaming and drawing kepted me company.
I went on to study Fine Arts ,
majored in Painting and drawing. For a few reasons I didn't continue developing my Art.I was broke and went into the workforce.
Now and then I did some drawings for friends and family but not enough of course.

More drawings, some studies (Hogarth) and real life.

awesome studies. Only thing I could suggest is to boost the contrast on some of the sketches but still alot better than my earlier works

Im really bad at colouring, and it's taking me awhile to get used to using a Tablet.Still feels weird !
Pencil drawing I did a while back scanned and tried to colour it,not happy with it, but one of my first attempts.I used the Palette knife tool to sort of smudge my pencils before painting over.

lookin good man keep it up. The colouring will come with time or alternatively you could colour outside photoshop scan then tinker abit with it in photoshop. The colours are lookin alright only thing letting it down in my opinion is the upper half of the girl seems abit flat. Keep drawin as you have got talent

Nice drawings! Color will come, but I think you should pay attention to shading, you have very little so far.
My sketchbook contains cartoon studies and Pokémon.

Changing the face angle on the girl was a good idea, far more interesting!
The gun's awfully big though. With the way the fingers are drawn, the right hand is too stretched, the thumb and fingers are too far apart.

Thankyou KidApe very kind of you to leave feedback.

O.k last few days haven't done much studies, but I have been doing lots of drawing&painting.
Here some updates of what I have been doing.
First work Topic was Drac's Daughter (CGTALK).I decided to do a Cartoon Character, started with pen&pencil sketch.Reworked design in
Art Rage 2.5 then coloured with Artrage pencils,I'm actually happy with the final out come.
Also pencil sketch and pen doodling.

Hi mate, few comments of mine if you dont mind.

"Dracula's Daughter", post #25. A a character she is good. Possibly more finished, better shaded look, better light definition would help, but its good start. However I recon this images suffer as a whole. There is no enviroment. Your castle idea was ok, but has to be revised and you need to think more about enviroment, perspective and that sort of stuff. if you decide to have flat backgroud, as in final image, still there should be some sense of light, a bit variation in tones, texture. I think it too flat now. Btw, I like little spider on her neck.

Regarding some other digital sketches, like in post #19. Possibly you would like to introduce more contrast and again think more about lighting source, light/shadows. Its helps define form. Also you might wantot try less blended, more direct and rough brush strokes. Kind of almost abstract shapes and lines, but when looked at distance creating an image.

With pencil stuff, you have few good ones, others are not that great. Go bigger, I have feeling sometimes you fight against medium to get details right. And dont forget the smaller image the less room for mistake, before it become obvious.

I noticed you used Artrage. Its very interesting program, but I found it rather difficult to use for final, finished images. Personally I prefer Photoshop. painter is also good. Tools does not matter much, but right tools can help solve problems quicker.

    Hope that helps,

    K.Polak

    Hey S.C.P!

Your work shows some really interesting designs. Once you get a bit more competant with colour, i think you will have some really nice work coming out. Always keep lighting in mind, and keep on working and updating, its looking really good so far!

krpolak:Thanks for visiting my Sketchbook mate
You left me heaps of feedback, with a lot of good advice as well.
I got lazy with Drac's daughter as it was a daily sketch and I was concentrating on getting the character right ,not the background so I just used a few gradients to hint at light source.Your right thou.
I agree on my lightsources, not enough contrast etc.I do see this,I just can't help myself and stuff it up,get lost some where.
Regarding the pencils most are just rough sketches, just ideas studies, doodles not finished artwork. But this should still be o.k for a Sketchbook ,that way I can see my crappy sketches improve as well. That's the plan anyway!
I will try to paint bolder, with less blending, yer I need a kick up the ass for that ! and Ill try Photoshop.
    Thanks again mate

space-sprayer Thanks for dropping by and leaving feedback.Gives me inspiration.

Wanted to add these to my sketch book.Studies from Mr HOGARTH.

What I have found people on this forum seems to be sort of very attached to illustation style rather the ideas. I have seen many very medicore ideas, repeated all over again, but great brush work and those images received many comments. On the other hand there is quite a few very good, original ideas, but not that greatly crafted in canvas and people dont bother to comment, becasue it does not have visual WOW factor.

In short, you must develope your pure drawing skill to better express what is in your head

Like your last ogre head. It has power, expression, anger, evil, but... no comments Try to brush is, build more mood by colour and shading and you will see, people will start to talk. BTW, your ogre has sight slighly off ;-)

    Regards,

    K.Polak

    Hi,yes it's me again !
krpolak :G'day, yes I understand what your saying.
"In short, you must develope your pure drawing skill to better express what is in your head "
My drawing ability is lacking like everything else I need to work on,but I'm making a effort and it will take time to improve. If I get an idea I have to sketch it,that's what keeps me drawing On dry days do studies etc, drawing as much as I can. Some ideas I sketch crudely can always be revisted when I improve enough to do them justice, the image in my head won't always be there thou.
Thanks for the crit too.His sight is way off lol.(Maybe still off!)
Here is an update and also a digital sketch.

PS.krpolak The link to your sketchbook been removed from your sig?
