Awesome studies! The bargues look particularily good! I've never tried bargues.. which I really should.. that being said I should maybe not be one to talk, but you could push them even further.. As far as I know, the bargue exercises are designed to really push your observational skills so you should aim for like a total likeness.. rendering wise as well.. I think (again.. I might be completely off my mark here.. haha) the transitions might be a little harsh.. if memory serves they're really really soft looking from shadow to light

Hope it helps.. I really like 'em though! Just think they might go from really good to awesome with a little more push

The figure studies are looking good. Don't forget the hands and feet...I know they aren't fun to draw but they add much expression.

The website is here http://www.learntosee.com/ and theirs actually a female cast head here http://learntos.ipower.com//fineartsfiguremodeling.html

    dierat : thaaanks !

hala : thanks for the tips, and for the help on msn ! you rock !

Grandmassa Mr. Spect : what's up g from da hood ! Still bangin ur bitch ! Thx for takh time replying on my sb ! c ya !

The man with no name : Thanks dude !

    Cacodaemonia : thanks, i'll try !

kingkostas : Thanks ! Yeah, i'm definately gonna do more stuff from mind !

shamandalie : big thanks for ya ! Take care !

shamandalie : what, you 're still pissing me off ! Go draw !

dCepT : Thanks bro ! For the bargue studies, i mostly did them in around 1 hour ! My focus was on values, understanding light, so i wasn't really focused on exactly drawing the same cast, but just creating a convincing light, and improving my values ! But i get what you mean, i think i'm gonna do a real bargue studies, that wil take several hours :p

AikidoAl : haha i'm gonna study them :p

surfandsnow : thansk so much dude, that's what i was searching !

Peetaer : lol thanks for thinking that som of my figures are from life ! they aren't, i'm mostly using refs from http://eros-and-grace.net/OwnGalleries/ ; http://www.kindgirls.com/ ; http://mjranum-stock.deviantart.com/gallery/ ; http://www.on.net.mk/galerii/Devojki.../index.html#65 ! Enjoy dude !

    p sage : thanks bro ! Yu rock !

Nettle_Mountain : Your advices are always gold :p you always helped me to improve in the right way ! thanks bro ! what about the weekly challenge ! we must keep it up ! now that school will begin again, we need to keep working hard, and don't procrastinate :p

Fumble : Haha, thanks dude !

Jaytea : lol just edited my post to thank you ! yeah, orange are badass when you paint them well lol ! i think i'm gonna try other fruits !

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, fasting is hard ! I used to eat a lot, and drink a lot, and i have headaches all days long ! But this holy month of ramadan reminds me the chance that i have to eat as much as i want, to drink as much as i want, and to live the way i'm living ! Even if i'm fasting for a week, i'm not totally understanding how hard it is to live in some african and really poor countries, because it's a thousand time harder there, it's hotter there, and, after after the sunset, i can eat as much as i want again, but they can't ! So each time i'm gonna drink, or eat, or do something, i'll be totally thankful for what i have !

    -------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some watercolors from refs ( it's easier than from life ! ) exept the last one, i tried to paint in b&w the orange :p and anatomy from mind ! i tried to do like jana, with multiple arms and legs :p it's really funny, and i learned tons with that ! i think i still must study legs, feet, and general proportions ! i find that i really improved with the arms ( exept the hands :p ) !

good stuff you're getting better man
you still want me to do those tut vids for you? i've got all my supplies now.

remember too that watercolor is less about "accuracy" than it is about creatively depicting something. -- the colors don't need to be key on for it to look good and work.
Utilize edge techniques and your values more so than colors for now.
cuz no matter how good your colors are, if you don't have control over your edges and the amount of water--your colors will look sloppy.

that's just my opinion. take it or leave it.

"The zen of watercolor" is a good book. you prolly won't appreciate the text part of it, but the whole book is dedicated to different techniques for watercolor to achieve different effects.
"Be either full-assed or no-assed. There is no half assed."

aah multilimbs-they awesome. you´re watercolour skill becomes better and better.
listen to hala, i think a book would help you to improve faster. i´d like to see some studies form mind, from the things you can challenge. like the anatomy in #461-it looks good.

I think the banana looks pretty good, value-wise. Maybe could use some touches of other colors. The peach (apple?) seems pretty flat, though. I think some darker shadows would help, as well as getting rid of that big white spot. You should do some more of these!

You've done a great deal of improving since the first page! Water colour can be a pain. I find the hardest thing is to wait for one layer to dry before staring the next. It also a great medium to put completely different colours on top of each other, to get some really neat things happening.

    p sage : ok dude !

hala : Thanks girl ! I have a few other questions for you bout watercolors ! I'll ask you later !

    HerrleerzeichenS : Thanks dude ! I will !

Cacodaemonia : Thanks for your advices !

    Kuidf^! : Thanks mate !

Pixie Trick : Lol dude, yeah, watercolors can be really surprising, i did some experiments, and sometimes it's " weiiird" lol

    ------------------------------------

Wellafter seeing the jason't update, i feel motivated, but frustrated at the same time ! Still a long way to go before working with these amazing dudes, but i don't give up ! Something that bothered me is that i don't draw much from mind ! Damn, i'm an artist, i should draw from mind, create characters, enviros, just doodle, but i'm too afraid of failing ! I'll overcome this fear, and try to draw from mind everyday !

    -------------------------------------

Well, today, some experiments with watercolors, bout color theories ! and some shitty stuff from mind ( tho i was totally focused on the design and the composition, but i think i could do better with the anatomy ! ) Also i have a question about watercolor that is pissing me off ! I was observing an object, it was a coca-cola glass ( this one ) and i know that the main hue is the " purple-red" one ! Thing is that i dunno how to create a lighter color, but i keep the high saturation, with watercolor ! if i add water, the color becomes more dull ! made an image to exp^lain my problem !

Anyway, thanks all for your help ! I love you caaaaaa !!

Watercolour is coming along nicely. Really have to give you props for even attempting anything with them. They are such a bitch to work with! Your figures are looking pretty good anatomically (although I know jack about anatomy so that doesn't really mean much!) but they are looking a bit stiff. More gestures perhaps?

    Peace

Great work on the studies Walid! Good to see your working hard at them! One thing I can't help but notice is that the eyes in a lot of you studies seem pretty flat, try to think of the eye as a sphere as you draw it and the lids working like lips which conform to said sphere.
Nice work on the watercolours too!!!

    Keep up the great work!
