Hey, good studies going on. Just keep it up and you'll do fine!
Some excellent stuff. I especially like your colour work.

Thanks guys!
I'm back after a little while, been working and figuring stuff out and my art has been sort of neglected. Something I'll soon fix.
Today I spent a few hours on a Sargent study.

But I would still love some feedback.

You make me want to start my own sketchbook on this forum. Thanks.
Hey thanks guys, that means a lot!
I've been working on a little project from another forum where you take a piece of old artwork and do a new one, presumably to show how much better you have gotten since.

Good work dude! next time don't skimp on the handddss!

PS: I love how our Iron Haans/Jack and the Beanstalk project just died
So here's a few anatomy studies and such.
I'm also doing concept art for the poem Jabberwocky by Lewis Carroll. It's for practice but aimed at being used in a game.
It'll never be as good as this telling but one can dream.

Here's the design for the Jabberwock.
My idea is that he's a dragon that somehow lost his wings in a fight and he's stuck on the island where the story takes place.
Started with thumbs but they all looked crap except for the one i have here, so i took that and worked on a sketch.

Hey DeeLock! Thanks for giving me some crit in my SB, means a lot and it's hard to come by^^
You got some solid work here matey - your character drawings have style, it's definitely distinguishable from others I feel. Nice to see the anatomy study, I think it's paying off. All the weapon ideas look like great research.
For crits, I think your faces could do with some more work - have you used Loomis Head and Hands book? Also try looking at them in a mirror, helps with symmetry. Though saying all this, that Sargent study looks fantastic ^^
Keep it up man!!
Thanks for stopping by my SB. You got some awesome stuff here, very nice progress.![]()
VERY nice work, Dylan! You're at a better place than I was when I started at AAU, so you'll be just fine. That Sargent study looks awesome, and I love the head studies.
I'm in the masters program, are you doing that or undergrad? And what major? PM me about those, I can point you towards some teachers here and there. My advice for now is: work your ASS off. Keep filling that sketchbook, attend whatever workshops you can, and keep up those master copies. They'll keep you busy enough, but at least in my program, we get less homework than you'd imagine. You'll have several required classes and that can't be helped, but spend time researching the teachers and pick your sections based on that, not the time slot. Always get to the shuttles in time for the one BEFORE the bus you need, they're always late for me. Other than that, you should be golden. Make friends with people who work hard. If you've got any other questions just PM me, and drop me a line if you wanna sketch sometime or whatever.
Edit: Oh, and one more thing. When you start oil painting, if you're on a shoestring budget, get the best brushes you can possibly afford, get the student paint, and buy wood panels at Home Depot. Buy what you can online, Utrecht's a ripoff.
Hey dude this is looking awesome, those heads are great! Can't really think of anything to crit but thanks for dropping by my SB and keep up your good work!![]()
Thanks everyone!
New sketches from Thanksgiving weekend.
I was up in Oregon and just now got access to a scanner. I'm also on a laptop so it's a bit dimmer than I'm used to so I hope they all came out ok.
Designs for the Tumtum tree from Jabberwocky:
And of course I had to bring my sketchbook to the Portland Zoo (I was in a group so none of these are more than 5 minutes):

Well, well, well. Fancy seeing you on here. You've got some nerve showing your avatar around here!
Nice updates dude. Keep em coming!
Nice to see that last page of gestures.
I would say construction and gestures are your weaker points right now. So perhaps do some posemaniacs! It is good for that (and not much else, actually).
DEE did i miss these on PA?

Nice studies man. I've nearly been through your entire sketchbook and I can clearly see your improvement in anatomy and head proportions.
