Hi tobbA, nice work going on in here since I've been gone. The girl has some issues though, you're rendering her body as if her arm, her leg, her torso, essentially all the forms are cylindrical forms. You should probably inject some anatomy in there to spice it up. Also the values are off on the skin, and the colors look a little funky. You may want to experiment with them a little more. Check out leather suit/rubber suit photos for reference as well, right now the way you are rendering it is a little strange for the material. Also her right thigh is really flattened out because the highlights are much too large, you want to make them smaller and more concentrated on a material like that.

That was a harsh crit, but I hope it comes in handy, at least to make you think more about your next character even if you don't feel up to applying some of the stuff I mentioned. Your work is looking nice though, and I really liked that gun concept up there. Keep it up tobbA, I'll keep checking in now that I'm back and updating daily again.

Black Spot: The legs do need to be different lengths, posed, and fit better in with the perspective... But I just don't feel like redoing all that rendering again.

Cdejong: Thanks for the crits. Although I can't really say I agree with you on most of the points... I don't think her limbs should look less cylindrical, especially not underneath those clothes. Since she's a woman I don't think her muscles would be very visible. As for the thigh looking flat, maybe it's just my untrained eyes or something, but I just can't see it...

The material, I might need to look closer at that. Question is just if I feel like bothering more with the image ^^'

    Enviroment thumbnails...

You can always take what you want from my crits, I'm just putting them out there but it's your artwork so you get to make the decisions of course . The thumbnails look nice, there are some perspective issues but since they are just thumbnails it doesn't really matter. Are you going to flesh all of them out, or just one?

Sometimes too many comments pulling you in all directions can take the fun out of a piece of work. Just take what you need or can handle at any one time and ignore the rest. I do.

Yeah. Heh. I kinda feel a bit like I'm trying to take in what everyone says and do something about it even if I don't really know if I want to. I guess I should just follow as much critique as I feel I'm up to. Do keep them coming though...

Anyway. I edited the landscape study a bit to give it more natural colors. It's hard to know if the colors work or not when I'm painting on my lap top screen.

Hey tobba! Thanks for the input in my thread. My turn to return the favor now.

Last portrait looks nice, moody and tight rendering. But I think there's something off in the eyes area, eyes look too far apart. I may be wrong but I made a quick edit and I think it looks more accurate. I hope you don't mind, if you do I'll take it away.
PS: If you're not doing it already, try flipping your canvas horizontally from time to time to easier spot anatomical faults and what not. I've made it a habit and I think it helps a lot.

On the landscape, the colours aren't that realistic as nature doesn't have flat colours; you need to bring in reds, blues, purples etc. It doesn't take much to make a big difference.

You should check out TAS's oil pastel landscapes; he's pretty good with them.

I guess in that sense it's not very realistic. However the photo I copied had a pretty analogous color scheme that I liked and tried to replicate...

hey tobba! turning into new alleys I see! good job. and you're definitely getting better controll over your drawings. like the pastel girl; it just looks good and almost effortless!
you might want to look into shoulders and the neck-chest connection. some of them look a little weird. also, in that nice safe storyboard, the ovals don't add up. because of the depth you used, the save door should be 'thinner'; the door in the reflexion distracts too. not round enough?

Thanks Yeah... The door should be much smaller, I somehow missed adapting it to the perspective. But I noticed way too late.

Ice cold man! Ice cold lol

Amazing man the skills with the pen that does not write. The digital work if off the charts. It's melting little babies and their ice cream. I need to work on my digital skills. I have tried it a few times and did not seem that hard to learn. I am focusing hugely on my foundations right now. I just got the Designing Creatures in adobe photoshop DVD from Gnomon workshop. Did you check any of those out yet?

Joe777 - Thanks! No. I haven't checked out Gnomon Workshop. I might though. I bought the Giancola tutorial from this site about a week ago but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

    Black Spot: Sounds good!

Here are three pages for the P.O.W. challenge.

Also three more Chiustream sketches that I don't think I got around to posting.

tobba, comic's really cool and very well-drawn. you could look at inter-picture relations a bit more. like on the first page, pan 2 and 3 face each other, that's good. 4 the girl turns away. 5(last). the dad still looks to his daughter. it feels a bit out of balance. try mirroring panel 5 for me.
