yeah this place is ruthless when it comes to starting threads... After 24hours a fresh thread can be found 3 pages deep.
nice work... i do enjoy seeing a poster on here who isn't doing all that digital animation type of stuff...
...keep up your hard work... it looks like you've put alot of effort into these drawings...
dont forget to do anatomical studies or draw nude models from real life.
Hiro Nakamura!! I would love to comment... But I don't think I have the skills to tell you what I want to say... I gave a critique to somebody earlier and he didn't get what I was saying at all... I felt dumb.. But, I love what you are doing so far!

Keep posting more stuff. Of what I see so far, you just need to continue working on proportions. Also, try varying up your linework some more. Right now it all seems very medium weight line - course that might be the scans, but it's hard to tell.

thespianmonsalvo, Thanks, some good advice there
Haven't been very good at updating this book... But here comes some more to try and keep up to date.
First a few anatomy studies from photos...
Then some Loomis ones on the muscles and such
After that a few drawings from life because i heard those were good for you
And finally a few attempts at watercolors

Thanks for being a random spambot! Ehem..
Oh well. Let's see. First two more half-successful attempts at watercolor, it's supposed to be mulder and scully... Then we have a chimpanzee... And a DSG entry.

Really like those lines in your studies! Keep doing those!
Oh and a Pikachu thingy! Yay I'm not alone! ^_^
My sketchbook contains cartoon studies and Pokémon.
Hehe, thanks![]()
Yeah... That pikachu was a gift from a friend who was in Japan... It waggles its head when sun light hits the solar panel

Another update!
First a couple of portraits. Sookie Stackhouse from True Blood. Likeness seems to have run away though... Then Bill tha vampire. Turned out better as far as likeness goes.
Bikini Girl
Scooter girl for DSG
Then I tried drawing Wolverine as well as some characters of my own. I notice proportions are off so I'd probably better practice that![]()

Keep it up!
Really dig into that anatomy book, it's a great way to learn, from what I know. That's what what I'm doing right now (not that I'm at all good yet).
I see improvement since your first post, your tones are getting a bit smoother.
Cya!
My path to improvement: a.k.a, my lame sketchbook.
Hey BobbyA!
All I have to say is that, based off of all the drawings you've updated, you need to spend a bit more time on each drawing. They all (the sketches) seem to have been done in a relatively short amount of time. Let's also see some deeper lights and deeper darks. Right now you seem to hover around midtones, which is good, but you need to combine it with darks and lights.
Also, definitely more anatomy studies and life drawing sessions. Life drawing sessions especially. They help SO much.
Good luck and keep the drawings coming!!!

love your works of art they are awesome too look at love the portraits.
the first one looks good.
Awsome drawing of Hayden ;-)
Good progress! One thing that stands out as needing work might be your facial construction. Some of your noses are a bit long, and your mouths are a bit low- try and work out a system for getting correct proportions, or learn one from a book on face drawing. I recently learned a bunch about facial construction from an Andrew Loomis book. It was really helpful!
Also, watch out for small hands and feet! The hand, with all fingers splayed out, should be as wide/almost as wide as the face of your subject, and the foot slightly longer. Keep practicing, you're definitely headed in the right direction.
Wow!
Thanks for all the comments
Foolsauce, Yeah... Need to motivate myself a bit more to work more with the anatomy book. Though lately I've felt a step up in inspiration so I've had a hard time keeping myself from just drawing things I feel like doing (not that I don't want that)
Peetaer, Life drawing... Yeah. Something I'm thinking about. I'm not really sure about stuff like that though. Don't know where to go ^^' I'm thinking maybe if I get into an art school I could do life drawing classes there
Maybe you'll like this latest batch of pictures... I've been trying to push my shadows in some of them at least
I'm aware I might not be spending enough time on the drawings, probably one of my bigger problems, but thanks for pointing it out any way.
M-Croft, Facial proportions... Yes, I should probably work on that. I'm thinking of digging into that head book after I'm done with figure drawing
--
First a watercolor of some rocks... don't know if they have a name ^^'
Two entries for DSG
T-Rex
And that's Christian Bale... Though his nose got a bit too long ^^'
Kirsten Dunst
The Phantom! (drawn with a ref)
Wolverine...
And a lion![]()

Here are a couple of drawing I did pretty recently. I should probably have a hole batch to upload by now but I don't feel like digging too much among all the heaps of paper.

Nah, those lines don't ruin it. He's stiff though, with his back all straight. And the car seems to do fine, it's not falling down or anything. So what hurts it most is that it isn't telling the story you wanted to tell.
My sketchbook contains cartoon studies and Pokémon.
I like that you're drawing all my favourite TV characters! Guys from Heroes and X-Files and even House!Pretty good stuff. Watercolors are difficult to work with, so it must be hard to do portraits with them.
Jasper, I thought the fact that the car was driving right off a cliff would be enough to tell a story... But maybe not then.
Great Distance Yep. Seen a lot of shows lately so I guess it's only natural...Watercolor is hard to do portraits with if you don't sketch before you start adding color...

Here are a few digital things i've done
First one is the guitarist Hide from X Japan, got a little tired of it so it's not entirely finished...
Second is a WIP for a superheroine... don't know how much superheroness I got in it... Wasn't really thought to be a super hero from the start, it just got that way when i drew the suit![]()
