CKLamb: Yeah, I've done some more noodling on that one. Working on it is helping me remember how bad at painting I am. I feel stupid as shit working on it. Hopefully I'll work it to a postable point soon (I don't spend a lot of time at home working on it, but I've started a few other digital things and I'm rollin some digi studies to quit sucking dick).

I'm such a directionless bastard with art. I wanna make money with art so I don't have to keep working my nutsack off in a factory, or go get a degree in something that I don't give a shit about. But idk if drawing guys with swords and shit is really what I want anymore either. fuckfuckfuck. I need to FOCUS and make some decisions and shit. Growing up is hard.

as far as this ever went. had no fuckin idea what I was doing. pretty embarrassed to be posting this garbage tbh. stupid, no storytelling, nothing eye-grabbing or interesting happening, shitty composition, i can't fuckin paint worth dick, and a whole plethora of other bad things happening

Jovian, art doesn't have to be commercial. Maybe you'd like going the academic or "fine-art" track. Swords and trolls are pretty fuckin' stupid from an adult stand point, and that's okay. On a personal level, I have found that I'm two people, an adult that cares more about experimentation with observational realism, and a complete juvenile who wants to draw "wicked cool shit". The adult and the juvenile are at odds with each other at almost all times, but I have come to terms with it. If you're having trouble painting, start from square one. Round up some simple objects and start a still life. Paint until your eyes bleed color and value.

if you dont know what to do, do some research, think about the economics, and just keep drawing and feeling for what it is you enjoy most of all. and quit bitching about yourself and your work. its counterproductive!

at least you know you have to make the decision, and at least you know its drawing related. most people in this world dont even get that far.

i appreciate the words, guys. i've been painting/drawing a lot more lately. starting to get into a groove I haven't felt for quite awhile. i've wasted so much time. been in kind of a bad place in my life for longer than I care to remember. time to start like moving forward and stuff.

i'll post some more digital studies in a bit here. scanned the moleskine I had with me at my buddy's. will resize the rest of it tomorrow. work in the morning and stuff. some of this is pretty old, some of it has been posted previously in less finished states (and they were shitty photos).

Went to figure drawing for the first time recently, as well. will maybe post a bit of that when I get the chance to.
