Jesus Food: Haha, don´t be sad, he´s not
Noukah: Tack så mycket! I will.
LAL: Thanks for the kind words.
Knarf: Thank you man. Yes, I will do my best

A pretty quick study from reference (Alica Keys). I´m currently reading Imaginative Realism by James Gurney and it´s awesome. I highly recommend it! I´m also doing perspective studies from Perspective made easy by Ernest R. Norling. I´m also working on a landscape painting for a competition over at sketchoholic. Check it out!

Ooh, I was hankering for some pale colors today. Nice... just make sure your painting doesn't get too smudgy or blurry! Try to "harden" your painting a bit.

Knarf: Yes, I didn´t really capture her likeness. Thanks man.
eminkey2003: I will think about that. Thank you.

I did another Alicia Keys portrait. This time I cheated by printing her face in lines on the paper very thin first, the eyes, nose and mouth anyway I wanted to focus on rendering. And an Assasins creed "fan art" done some time ago.

Green portrait is dynamite! Much better likeness. I like the way one of your styles works in the second picture too. Fabulous composition in that one too.

Really great form on these new faces! The green one is especially nice. The Altair and black and white girl have a bit of wonkiness in the positioning and size of the facial elements, but are major improvements from your past work.

    Keep up the good work!

eminkey2003: Thanks man! The likesness in that one is probably because I cheated, as I said in the last post It was more of a rendering exercise.
    Gorgoleon: Tackar, tackar
BRINKMAN!: Thanks, yeah that one wasn´t very successful when it comes to likeness.

A self portrait below, that I didn´t finish. Lately i´ve been mostly doing perspective studies and I also bought the discovery foundation and painting weeks, so I have been looking at that too. Great stuff!

eminkey2003: Thanks, just need to finish the stuff too

These are some of the assignments I did for a school application:

1: Draw your kitchen with a pot on the stove and a person standing by it.
2: Still life (with the specific objects you see in the picture)
3: How to cook mashed potatoes (only images)
4: Two people carrying a table (all legs visible)

The alicia keys sketch and the breakfast paintings are very good!
The light under her nose might be a little too bright.

    Peace

The line drawings are fantastic. I love how dynamic the "table" drawing is. I think the best part of the still life is the silverware.

    Knarf: Thank you Sir
    Gorgoleon: Tack tack!
Mister Dark: Thanks and I agree about the light, but then again, you are Mister Dark
Ivan Turcin: That´s nice to hear, thanks. I will try to work harder
eminkey2003: Cool! because we were supposed to show how we handled different material in that assignment, so it´s nice that it looks ok I was afraid of doing the metal.
BRINKMAN!: Thank you man! I think the step-by-step was the one that was most fun to do.

I´ve been working on my perspective skills and so I don´t have anything particulary fun to show but I did some goofy silhouettes that I will post.

Cool. Like I said to BRINKMAN, I think I would work on just making everything more dynamic. I think the most interesting pose in the silhouettes is the ballerina-type at the bottom.

This is my theory about making something dynamic:

Ivan Turcin: Thanks man! Haha, yeah it would be cool if I knew how to do it. There´s so much to learn
eminkey2003: Yes, I will keep that in mind, normally I think I focus too much on the character and don´t really think about the pose/gesture.
That´s an interesting theory. But I think that even a "boring" object with not a lot of variation can be made interesting depending on what viewpoint you have (see attached picture 3).

I just thought i´d show some of the stuff i´ve been struggling with the past weeks. I finished Perspective made easy and I also have watched and followed Carl Dobskys video downloads. After I watched each video I tried to do it on my own and add something (perhaps draw it from another angle or change measurements and viewpoint).

Whew, those perspective studies are a doozy. Looks like the still life make good applications of it. Maybe you should try with a figure next.

Yeah, about the theory-- it seems you've proved it! Heh, that table is pretty solid at first, but when you add a perspective that makes the shape look more varied in its 2D silhouette, it looks more interesting. Anyway, that's neat.

Heres a dude I know who does a lot of strange perspectives: Robert Valley (NSFW).

eminkey2003: Haha, yeah I guess. But if it´s the exact same silhuette but rotated? I guess it comes down to the structure behind the painting. Stapleton Kearns actually posted about this in his blog. It´s an interesting read.
Awesome link,I really enjoyed his work! Bookmarked.

    Some stuff I did today.

Gorgoleon: Thanks man! Haha, it´s actually pretty basic stuff. Carl Dobsky is great at making you understand.
eminkey2003: Thank you! I had that in mind when making the silhouettes.

These are some of the assignments for another school application I have been stuggeling with the last couple of weeks or so.

1: Design a poster for "Alfred Nobel: Networks of innovaion". It´s done in soft pastels.
2: Show in a series of picture a time when you showed courage (the text is swedish and it rhymes )
3: Make a graphic image of a memory from when you were a child. It´s a collage.
