Ringling College of Art and Design 2009 hopefuls

Hey guys. I found out I'm able to get into community college okay next month. I was talking with my academic adviser about Ringling and about how to get in with a certain type of degree. I was wondering, should I go for an AA degree or an AS degree in order to get transferred over? Thanks a lot if you know.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is an AA and AS degree?
If your talking about transferring over to Ringling from a community college, I believe what classes you take will be more important than what degree you are in at the community college.

off the Ringling website:

"Ringling College will consider for transfer any liberal arts or studio art credit that meets our academic requirements and where a grade of C or better was earned from a regionally-accredited college or university."

"If you have taken Liberal Arts courses at another college/university, those courses will be evaluated by the Academic Advisors in the Office of Advising, Records, and Registration Services to determine if they meet the degree requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. The number of Liberal Arts classes completed has no bearing on your class level. Only studio classes determine your class level. Students enrolling with an Associate of Arts or a Bachelor of Arts degree from a regionally accredited college or university will be considered to have met the Liberal Arts requirements for the BFA degree."

You may have to check with the school to see if they will transfer for credit, but a really good portfolio will probably lock you in.

"Submit at least 10 images (a minimum of 15 if you are a transfer student seeking studio art credit) of your recent work, following the directions for portfolio requirements for your chosen major..."

Be sure to come out to club fair on Friday! It's on the student center deck from 7-9.

There's some really cool clubs that are starting up this year. Stop Motion Club (awesome!), Type Club (for typography), Ultimate Frisbee Club (official this year!), and I'm sure there will be more.

Ok i heard that ringling college of design is well known and has a good reputation...(i got interested) but when i found out about the tuition and fees i felt down my chair! i mean 26k dollars a year!!! So , what i want to as is: Is there a way for me to get a Scholarship somehow couz like i cant afford that kind of money since for 4 years ill have to pay 104k dollars and fees... Pls if anyone can answer my question pls do And as simple as possible ! thanx

lol, its ok, I know exactly what you are thinking, its scary. for me, I'm a international student, so I can't even ask for federal support, so....

the only thing I know is the presidential scholarship, you can also give them a call, there is a office of people just responsiable for this kind of stuff

Full time tuition is about 26k. This doesn't include room and board, or any of the other miscellaneous fees. I think all things considered it's somewhere between 40k - 45k.

And chances of a scholarship are slim, too.
