like Primeval's gorgonopsid, yes? (or does that not count as a reptile? I ask because some don't consider it a true Reptile)
[ Mod Response: I am not familiar with Primeval. Any controversy over the fictitious animal is bound to be irrelevant silliness, and not appropriately discussed here. Remember that the point here is to create something novel, so if you are familiar with said creature design and repeat that design, then you are missing the point. ]

PS, 50 min
@the_Satanic_COokie : great idea, I prefer the first, but you look to have a too bright monitor or gamma calibrating to do, cause here with my both calibrated ones, it looks too darks on shadows. Anyone with a calibrated monitor can confirm ?
Took about 30 minutes or so.

+/- 75 minutes in Photoshop.
the_Satanic_COokie:Really like the raised up head and the highlight running along the lower lip on the first. You might want to separate the tail from the back leg to add a little more verve to the silhouette.
Deevad: I can really feel the figure's weight and a strong sense of place.
Nice work. Can't wait to see the other entries.
1-hour in photoshop, had fun with this one![]()
Reptotiger loves it when the wind tickles in his whiskers.

Turned it around a bit, sssssssgrrrrr.

I really didn't know how to attach an image to a reply here
Can't seem to find the attachment manager in the reply window... or around it.

cool round so far... my favorites:
Deevad: that's some nice colors and textures.
Chillpepper: the scales and the head design is really cool.
bleupencil: that looks like an actual creature.
tuber: I really like your style, it feels like an illustration from a cool book.
goran: it's a cool idea converting the stripes to seams between the scales.
A little hard shell "Turtlger". Came out a little to Tony the Tigerish

First DSG for me, I don't know how long I spent on it, but I'm really trying to get used to painting, colour and stuff ugh. Any criticisms would be great too.

True progress means matching the world to the vision in our heads.
But we always change the vision instead.
I got lost in the head and before i knew it 2 hours had passed. I guess it became a cub of sorts...

Sorry, but there's entirely too much talent in this thread. Time to bring things down a notch or ten...
Based loosely off a ref image I grabbed from the internet. Ran out of time/patience toward the end, and boy does it show, but I got it into my head I'd do this one.

Hah... very interesting topic! At first sight I said to myself: what so much can be made here? But here it is - great and creative creature designs!
Funnyface - Very good rendering. Is this only photoshop?
Sevo - Awesome and creepy! The predator about to burst forth.
Erniestings - Very creative! Thumbs up!
Chillpepper - I like your technique a lot. Also the creature reminds me of a Magic: the Gathering beast.
Now here's my Raptiger - a lone swift predator. Took about 40 minutes. I used photo reference from the web.
