Cartography studies? Whatever it is, those map lookin' things are neat.

Some of those sketches need to be rotated. However, you are really good at what you did so far.

Hiya mate. The best thing I would recommend to you is keep on with exploring shape for weapons and such. But if you can, try and get hold of Carl Dobsky's perspective vid. And study it! There honestly are no shortcuts in this game. Just by taking the basic principles from Dobskys vid will take your enviros up a notch. Keep going, draw till you bleeeeeeeeeed

You might want to take some weapons and do blind contours until you KNOW the object. Then sketch it in pieces until you know each part. Then put it all together. Drawing less about drawing and more about observing!

Welcome to CA. The overhead city views are sweet. Keep playing around with shapes as kian said. Do lots of environment sketches as well. They'll help you a lot as far as getting ideas for town surroundings and such. Keep posting.

I came across a forum with some exercises that i thought would fit nicely along with my daily posemaniacs 90sec drawing. I need to figure out how to the parts of the shadow would translate to color(ie. a core shadow on a gray scale sphere to the core shadow of a blue sphere?) My thoughts on this were that the shadows were more saturated and the highlights less so. The highlights being less saturated but lighter, more shadow brings more saturation? Comments on this subject would be great.

I was going to suggest you do some shading studies... but I suppose you beat me to it

Maybe try to render some forms (whether from reference or life is up to you) with pencil! Most importantly just keep at it

Well its been a long time and a lot of things have happened. Failed art school and got into a whole lot of dept and pretty much lost sight of what art meant to me and why I even picked up the pencil in the first place so many years ago to draw stick figures in weird wars.
But here I am today with a fiance and a 4 month old son ready to start having fun and expressing myself through pencil and paper. I know now that I need to have certain foundation skills to be able to execute my imagination fully which will require study.
I'm reviving my sketch book here on CA to 1. Enjoy knowing someone actually sees what i draw and 2. help me stay motivated to draw everyday for fun.
So here are some pages I did semi recently to start it off and I hope more studies will follow shortly.
I need to work on :
Basic shapes and building with them.
Basic shapes in perspective.
Tone.
Basically a whole lot of things but i don't want to get to overwhelmed so soon.
