why am I banned

why am I banned. all of my IPs are banned, everyone at work cant access concept art because the entire network is banned, and so is all my home ones.

what did I do to warrent a ban.

that's a really good question. last i heard, landmate recieved a cryptic email from jason manley and suddenly was unbanned. when i heard about what was going, i heard that the moderators had a secret vote on banning landmate after he made a comment in #art on irc. As far as i understand, #art is not exclusive to conceptart.org, nor does it have much to deal with what goes on here.

I guess this is part of the new crack down on free speech on this forum. theyre trying to teach those that think for themselves to keep quiet.

No. I just clicked a few buttons in fury after landmate started insulting my personal life and my art.

I've never had a problem with landmate. We were once great friends. I guess things went sour. He was a dick to me so i returned the favor in my way.

though. It was harsh. I don't believe i abused my power, but i removed it anyways. I like landmate. I respect his art and his opinions.

i dont think u should be in charge at ca if you cant keep your personal life separate from the work you do here. i motion for creation of an independant counsel.

well i guess our opinions differ there. If someone is going to be a complete dick to me... i feel i have the right to return the favor by being a dick back. And i seriously doubt i'm the only admin that has done this.

I find it really ironic that i get upset with one person that flat out insults my life and my art.... yet behind the public eye you and others insult artists like 'phait' to no end. You may seem like sime radicial saint in the public eye, but your a hypocrite who insults his own friends behind their back.

And if i remember correctly you abused your 'power' as admin on your forum and changed the main forum page to a redirectory link to a page of a male spreading his ass.

in recent weeks i have seen this entire forum going to a very bad place...i seriously hope that it does not continue down this path because it is a godsend to those of us who would otherwise have very few channels through which to have our work seen and critiqued; as well as to view and critique others. it is my opinion that members should not be banned unless they are unfairly targeting others on this board and only on this board or if they are actively harming the purity of this board. what happens on irc or aim or msn should not in any way affect the happenings of this board or else we'll all be in serious trouble. no one here is perfect so we should not be held to a standard of perfection. this is a venue for learning and appreciation. personal matters should have no place here beyond a friendly pat on the back. keep your grudges to yourself or i warn you...the forum you love will no longer be and we will all be sorry. i sincerely hope that this board will be, in the future, run and administered in a more professional way so that we might all continue to enjoy it. and thats my two cents.

i dont mind people being dicks to each other, but a disportionate use of force is somewhat unacceptable. i mean its between u and landmate, not between u/conceptart and landmate. i don't think use of shock and awe is an appropriate response to being treated badly.

as for opinions on artists like phait, why can't i have my own views? i'm not telling people that love phait's artwork that they're wrong. there is a lot of things i both like and don't like, but i am not mounting large campaigns to have it removed from the earth. everyone is entitled to their opinions. for example, geckzilla thinks that my paintings look like rainbows, which i dont really like, but it doesnt phase me that much.

i think the more important issue is that your work on this forum is to moderate it, not to carry out personal vendettas. you do not own this forum, it is not yours. if anyone were to censor people, it would be jasona and andrew and even that way, it would be potentially unsavory for the public to witness them doing it.

then again i'm all about the free discourse of ideas. it is one of the great principles that we should strive to protect and honour. this is not saying i need to argee with what you are saying, but i should respect your right to say it.

I'm a little disturbed by the fact that Landmate was banned, THEN given a PERSONAL TITLE! What the hell do I have to do around here to get noticed?

I agree with what davi did. I was actuly in the channel when it happened, and it really wasn't even mature, much less professional. From what i understand its been going on for awhile.

Mabye he will stop now that hes been threatened with an unban, though most likely he will just bitch at Davi.

i am in agreement that things that happen outside CA need to stay outside CA.

I have seen others get irked by attitude...however it happens to all of us...we have a bad day now and then and it comes out in the forums.

hopefully you two will settle down and be friends. sticks and stones....you both are very strong willed and thus are bound to butt heads. so lets try to keep it civil and try to put all this stuff in the past.
