bit of line work for DSG. just gotta decide how to color it now.
And i got some line work from MongooseDog
and did the coloring. you can see the original at the link![]()
love you work but you new to work on your shading
come look at my sketchbook http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...=1#post1872283
am always working on shading :p
oh and some coloring...
You know, you've got kind of a neat sense of value and shape. I'd love to see what you do with a very sharp, very soft pencil. (Disclaimer: very sharp, very soft pencils are one of my favorite drawing tools. But still...they force you to deal with line as an aspect of shape).
I was once on the receiving end of a critique so savagely nasty, I marched straight out of class to the office and changed my major (sketchbook).
Thanks Stoat :)
And i had a go at the sharp soft pencil. 9B was a little to soft blunting every 5 minutes. ill have to have another go with 2B. (plus my 9b is only an inch long :p )
But for now some of these fun creatures. for spartan camp :)
hey man, good works youve posted here. i like all the poses they seem to be in the right angle and perspective. keep it up.
crits. work on your contrast and value, that should help you out on bring out the subject youve got in mind...![]()
thanks l0stinth0ughts
you know i was just looking at my drawings and upping the contrast and thinking the same thing. Might have to look into it a bit more now.
And last drawing for today. Speedy portrait forgot to time it though reckon about 45minutes.
Not as many as i hoped started to feel sick
Done few hands trying more contrast and had a o with the sharp pencil thing.
Also Worked on he self portrait trying to get a bit more contrast![]()
And realized why it looks a bit odd.. Been drawing with my head tilted(moved my head in front of mirror and looked to right at paper)...everything got stretched sideways a bit.
Left what it is. Right what it should be except the neck.(what it looks like while drawing.)
been a while since i used digital so
and a few sketches of my niece when she manged to sit still..and few thumbnails i may do bigger![]()
smaller post today. been working on this for sisters birthday. my 2nd A3 portrait19 to go![]()
(and still working on tell is perfect)
Heya, theres clear progress in this sketchbook, and yes, look out for distortion, it's often just about how/from where you look at the paper, so no biggie.
I like the last image, but it almost like 2 different heads, the eyes are of different size. The right side (her left) is nicely done, and when I put my hand on top of the right side, it looks really nice, though you should of focused a bit more on making things fit, since now the right side doesn't really work for you here.
Keep on drawing, you've come a long way already!
Hey man, making progress![]()
i think you are good at shading (e.g the ear in your selfportrait looks good!) but you should try to get the proportions right before shading!
start loose but BIG just the overall shape of the head, then set marks for the nose the eyes and get more and more defined, once it looks good start shading! because at the moment it looks like you are concentratig on making each part of the face look good (which you are suvessful at) but then you lose the overall struture.
anyways, i'd like to see more of your stuff!

had a go at fixing the right side of the portrait, shrunk the eye and redone the ear. And started to learn the head properly usually a lot of guess work. like the upper lip am always manging to make that too big long or short or even twisted..
"BIG just the overall shape of the head" think thats exactly were i went wrong. have to start drawing a lil different.
Thanks for the replys![]()
2 more because i finally drew a robot/mech suit that doesn't look silly first time i drew it.=D
usaly takes 5 attempt...
Not much today but manged something at least![]()
You are so great at shading that if your drawings are distorted, I wonder if they are supposed to be that way! But seriously, you have GREAT potential. Just put some studies into some head on poses before moving on to a slight turn on the head. Work very hard about getting the eyes to match and proportions right .. ears in the right place etc. before you start shading.
You are going to turn out some awesome work here shortly I believe!
reneeisorym: some are distoreted intesionaly but its usually obvious otherwise its a mistakebut i will be doing some studies to correct them proportions and such.
and awesome work is the plan :p
the first image from my collection of doodles that am gonna start turning into full paintings.
was having trouble drawing faces at the time so i removed it
and am starting to experiment with more intresting back grounds other than just grey..
woo been a while since I've posted here.
Guess i should post some drawings :p
Last image i just did the coloring line work was done by fried (with the sword and gun)
Hey Fly, thanks for stopping by...
Whoa you've gone right in with the portraitness, pretty hard subject in my opinion. Some of them are looking very good! I Especially think the older woman looks good. I like the study of the skull too, was the slight distortion intentional? You're stronger with straight on faces than with 3/4 profiles but keep practicing, it'll pay off.
Cheers
