Kindly answer two questions?

I was originally going to post these questions on DA, until I broke away from my curse of insanity and realized that to get true feedback from live, blooming artists that I should come here.
I'm not sure if posting questions like this is against the rules, as I never read rules when I register to forums.
Question 1: As an artist, do you feel that you use a canvas as a conduit for expressing your emotions? Disregard this if you specialize in visual culture.
Question 2: What is the best advice you could give to any artists just waiting to bud?

1: Some do, some don't.
2: Keep drawing/painting and make sure you can pay all your bills.

1. Yes. And even if I didn't believe it to be so, it would still be so. What's the difference between visual culture and what we do?

2. Don't wait. Bud now. Do your great work now. And sell it.

My answers to your 2 questions:
1) Sometimes. I paint when I'm bored or because I'm inspired. Or I am hoping to get money for it.
2) Practice, practice, practice. Also, spend some time networking and making connections.

Hm.

1) It's like being a session musician. Sometimes when you play you really feel the music in your bones. And sometimes you don't and you play anyway because somebody hired you to and you're a professional, dammit. I put a lot of store in this definition of professionalism. Then again, I grew up in Nashville.

1) I don't use my art as a conduit for expressing my emotions. My emotions are fairly predictable and of not much interest to anyone. However, I do try very hard to elict an emotional response from whoever views my art. I don't attempt to evoke any particular emotion, and I don't particularily want to know what the emotion was. Just to have provoked an emotional response is enough.

2) Just keep drawing / painting / sculpting / whatever. Don't wait until you "bud", just do it. And keep doing it!
