Nick- Yeah- I've got two jobs at the moment. I hate restaurant work, and so I work on this as much as I can. I feel ya man.
Tomskie- thanks dude.
Really didn't like the pose. So I tinkered.

I'd also like to officially complain about the lack of a "digital multi-media" option, in copyright info, when choosing "illustration" as an option. But, instead I'll just write it here.

Ba-booooom.
Great one, a post apocalyptic punk dude with a machine gun.
Your brother will like this for sure.
Anatomy challenge?
Not noooooow maaaaaan.
I am willing to study together with you, just please do not
challenge me, I am not a competitive type of guy.
Keep rockin.
I really like your blocky approach to your work. It always blows me away when people does that thing well.
I think you should take one step back with the gun though. I think it looked better in the post before this one. Think about it in silhouette and what I say will make more sense..
Does it look like a gun if you make the character black and background completely white?
Work on the read on that part.
Great job on that piece though, I like where it's going!
Alright Plissken, I might actually be interested in something like that. More motivation for the both of us?
Loathsome- thanks man. I just saw your post, but I think you have a point about the silhouette.
Last one for the day, I promise.

hell yea!! thats the spirit! fuck sleeping!! its overrated!!! id say, drop your brush down to a very small hard egded on, and just give these the hard edged treatment. define some sharp edges for contrast, and maybe punch the saturation up a tiny bit for the cyclops piece? that foggy pink needs a bit more red in it, in my opinion. but, GIT TOO IT!

Oh hey! I really like that giant piece! I've always loved giants, this is a good one too
Great job!
Well, Christmas was fun and all. My mother decided to NOT pay for propane, got a wood stove instead. So now me and the brothers need to log some trees everytime we go home. Two feet of snow on the ground (it never snows there!) made it even more "in my day..." like the Grandpa from Rugrats.
Flightless dragon. He's gonna have a name and purpose in my story, but none of that matters here and now. He's gonna have a large arm leftover from when his race had wings, but also have a smaller one growing out. He has developed antler like horns, with which he can fight. Hopefully he'll be cool.
And... go!

And this is about as far as these sketches will go. I've decided I'm tired of drawing huge dudes, after my cyclops fiasco.
But, it was fun practice. Gotta go to work... lame.

I really love your work man, especially your paintings. Those last sketches have a lot of energy. Keep working on your structure as their seems to be some flaws here and there. Keep it up bro!
Thanks man. Structure is a never-ending struggle. I don't like to take my time drawing, it's never been my strong point, but it's necessary. I'm working on it, but painting and layering colors is so much fun. Correcting a painting from a quick sketch issue is NOT fun, however.
Assassination image. I'm trying to tie all my loose ends- all the paintings I've failed at will be beaten. This is a completely different view and idea, but it's still my "assassination painting". The older, really bad one was somewhere here in my sketchbook- with a guy leaning over a crate with a knife in his back.
I want a guy leaping out of the shadows attacking a guy on a throne, while everyone around is in shock- maybe some guards pulling out swords and stuff. This here's gonna be a stretch piece- all of my weaknesses will be really important. That's.... interiors, complicated scenes with multiple figures, sitting figures, and so on and so forth.
Must now resist the urge to play Dragon Age (because it never REALLY ends) and keep sketching.

I'm having so much fun eating up the way that you illuminate form! It's so tactile and thick and painterly![]()
And your gestures are quite interesting tooMaybe some composition exercises would push those gorgeous paintings into an even more effective realm.

Must paint faces. It's silly that I've gone this long without figuring them out better.

Those faces now have obvious skewing to me. It's tough to keep track of that, especially digitally.

Nice practice! I'd suggest trying to be a bit less heavy handed with those faces. And your eyes are looking a little dull.
Maybe it's best to do some isolated practice of each facial feature before attacking the whole face?
Great stuff though, Tally Ho!

I don't know why I never visited your SB before... I have my strange things.
{I saw just the last page this time, by the way}
I already told you in your topics in Critique Center I love your.. technique? Style? How should I call this...? You make mistakes but your paintings has charm... I always appreciate artistic, graceful and easy strokes. And I can't find words...
You definitely should paint faces, you are right. For me faces are the most important, it's strange many people focus on figures and even when they can do it well, their faces isn't good enough. They work together, faces and figures, a strong picture that has people in it usually needs both.
Face features in #204 are slightly off, the other bunch seem to be better, the open mouth guy's jaw is a bit weird to me in #207... and the big one's mouth aren't the greatest either (and it doesn't seem it was easy... too little brush, too many strokes, not a nice easy sketch) but I don't wanna tear them apart, practice, put more faces here and I will say if I see something worth to mention
*sigh* Who do I want to decieve...? My inner critic's favourite food is faces, you can't escape, you should improveErm, I try to behave and drawing instead being annoying. Sorry

Yo-ho-ho, merry Christmas my friend.
And Happy New Year, many love and fortune I wish you in this year.
Just as shiNIN said it, your paintings have some charm, and you
have started to charm my mind up and down, and I just cannot breathe
in a standard fashion anymore. You are rocking those face studies,
just as Patrick Swayze rocked when he teared out the throat of that
guy in 'Road House'.
I just feel delighted and purified after viewing your latest paintings.
Cheerz for that mate.
Great stuff love your figures they have a real weight behide them. Keep them coming.
Kiwi- Yeah, I know what ya mean. Sometimes I can be a little more delicate... sometimes I really just can't. Isolated practice sounds good, but I need to be more familiar with the skull and such... so I'm working on that too. Thanks!
ShiNIN- Hey feel free to come bust my balls anytime. I appreciate it, and agree completely. I'm working hard on the face thing... I'd love to be able to make them from my head with confidence as well. It's gonna be another long road, but at least I've got methods of studying I know work for me. Please stop by as often as you'd like.
Plissken- I love that scene in Road House. I had a painting teacher who swore he knew karate and was trying to tell us how to rip out people's throats on many occasions. It was hilarious. "Just Plip- grab the button, squeeze, and pull!". God I miss Bob Foster. Thanks for the words man.
Thanks mitze. I'm working on those as well.
SKULLS. Kind of. I'm trying to familiarize myself with the form of skulls. And just another head study.
EDIT: Oh yeah. And now I'm definitely giving up on this dwarf. It's fucking lame.
