Noodley doodley, liking the viking, but I liked the rough sketch style better, specially in the foreground.

Hey thanks a lot for stopping by at my sketchbook! Thought I'd return the favor to my countrymen and drop in some feedback.

The stuff looks great. Hmmm... I can't really point out any specific advice. I'd encourage to take further some of these paintings. I think that was said earlier. Also would like to see some figure drawings and portraits take further.

    Keep at it!

Wow--incredible progress since I last came here. The warrior is fantastic, though I would agree with what Munin Raven said about him having lost some of his movement and vitality (I know you're finished with him, though ). Oil painting is fantastic for your first...the water looks like it is pretty murky, so next time perhaps focus more on the reflections. These will give it a much different surface quality from the grass. Great work!

    Heya!
Great enviro again. Strong mood as usual.. The bright, falling leaves are standing out.
Think you're losing some of the depth in a few places because of tangent points. I included a small paintover with a few of them.
When the lines of two objects on different planes meet, it appears as if they actually touch each other. Which makes them appear as if they are on the same plane, flattening your piece. Perhaps you already know, if not I hope I explained it correctly .

Perhaps I'm nitpicking, but you never know.

I tried to look up some more information about tangents, but can't find much. Found this thread though, where you can get some clues from a paintover by Tristan Elwell. There's a few useful comments on it too.

Nice portraits. The first one is still a bit 'forced', eyeline seems too high also. But the female ones seem much more fluent and confident. Accurate brush strokes too. Great update!

    Great going, more!

Thanks a lot for your in-depth critique man! I need to keep an eye for tangets next time I paint

Heres a couple new paintings, the first one is for a school project, where I had to do a painting about modern addictions. I chose to paint a computer addict! However i do not like it at all, anatomy doesnt work... etc, but the teacher did like it though... The second one is just some wip of a hot girl and a fire-lit sky!

That part about tangent lines was really helpful. Didn't realize something like that even existed. :p

Anyway, nice SB! You've made som sweet progress. The env in #143 on page 5 is mah favorite! Very nice colors. They create a warm and soothing mood. Keep working hard.

nice atmosphere in the first(something is strange with his shoulder)
The second needs more work not that much in rendering but in anatomy(check proportions).

Wow, Noodle! You are on hyperdrive!

I like the pieces on post 194. Just a couple of quick crits:

The boy's arm looks out of place. The one that's on the floor. However I like the overall value structure of the piece. I would probably lower the value of the light of the light post outside of the window. Too strong and competing with attention from the light that's coming from the computer screen. Or how about changing the color of light/s? Go for complementary colors for contrast.

I'm not liking the girls face hehe. I don't know, but I guess it's the proportions of her face that's not working for me. I don't find her attractive at all, and I'm sure that was one of your goals anyway. I would also like to see color variation from the main light source that's hitting her. You see the light from the BG is obviously warm, so why not make the other light source cooler? I think that would more effective. Always think of opportunities where you can use good contrast.

    Great work, man.
