Great stuff. I especially like your environments. I think right now you need to focus mostly on making the values right. If you make the skin believable in grayscale then the colors will look right too.

    Keep going.

heh it sounds right, but i don't see what it has to do with my comment lol
btw~ i love the song in the new post!! from the preview image, i would have though it was more rock-like
and try defining that shadow better in the image ~ red is good bright like that, but i think it needs some dark parts on the edges of the canvas..

you gotta keep going on the last piece there - I feel like it has some good potential.

If the figure is facing us, his leg feels too short (if its angled away from us, it doesnt look like he'd have good balance).

Some things I would try - take the white spot in the clounds and flip its direction so that its angled down towards the figure. Also give the white light a bit of the red color to suggest that its causing the red ambience.

A little something more foreground would add more depth - just some kind of subtle nature element that wont take away focus.

Clarify ares on the central rock, it doesnt feel like its sitting right in space because the planes are not clear enough.

The shape on top is aggressive, but it 'flows' nicely up to that point. I think it would have more impact if the ground around it were more jagged and broken.

I like the last pic! I also like the POV and the perspective as well. I'd probably take advantage of using a 2 pt or 3 pt perspective for this piece and add some stuff in the foreground.

The light peeking behind the clouds is a nice touch too.

    Later!

Damn sorry all guys : l My PC got busted for good like 2 weeks ago, and it still takes like a month to get it out of the maintenance D: So there will be no digital paintings here for a while... Maybe this is what i need, to really get my concentration down to things that need it most, like oil painting and pencils.. Ill be updating this soon enough with an enormous amount of pencils and stuff, hope the CA servers can withstand the stress!! Till the next time!

Oil on canvas, 35x27. One of the first decent portraits made with oil, it was really tricky to get the photo quality down good

    congratulation on this oil try.

Bad things can be a turned into advantages (practicing traditional media)

some crits: the area in the between the eyes is a bit messed.
the hair is a bit flat
also the left area of his face is a bit flat (the half turned to the left canvas border)

you should be more methodical when painting (one step at a time)

    hope we'll see more
    see ya mate

Thanks mate for your thoughts im still much a rookie when it comes to oil painting

Some good news this time, i got lent a new laptop for the time my PC comes from the maintenance! So heres a newest painting, along with some pencil sketches and one piece made with watercolors, there will be more of these, we are learning some watercoloring techniques atm at our school. I hated watercolors before, but now ive got a new perspective towards them, and im not hating them as much!

Lovin the watercolors man. For the image with the tank, I would darken the foreground more to really push the depth and contrast because that rock in the foreground is attracting a lot of attention.

    Thankies for the tip

Hey man, thanks a lot! dunno what blank space are you talkin about :o

    -------------

As i said before, i got my comp back from maintenance, it works, but there are still some issues. Atleast photoshop works!!! Some newest ones here, the first one was for Team chow II, but it never was made in time. The second one, is just some speedyspeedy scifiyish sketchy, and the last one is 30 min painting from reference! enjoy

looking good bro, esp that high-key lady!

On the stone golem, I'd make the different boulders more distinct and looser overall to give him a more "summoned" look.

    More more moreeee

I'm liking that portrait, the colors are awesome... 30min? Nice!

A few posts back the one "ooga booga" guy with the skulls on his chest was really badass, and I think the manner in which you made him- medium, style, whatever- really went well with the character. Great work.

Cool update! It's been a while, man!

I really like the Team Chow piece. I just wish you emphasized the scale between the woman and the golem like creature. I would've wanted the feeling that that thing was really huge.

The portrait is good too although I feel that some parts of the hair that are in shadow should go much more darker. Close to your darker values. I'm just basing this on my experience though because I don't know what the reference looks like.

    Later! I want more!
