verry nice. any chance of geting some shots with better lighting? flash bulbs never do anything justice.
excelent sculpt.
the muscle texture is amazing; good job it's amazing anyways, tho is doesn't look all that finished
wow !!! very creative , I would be very proud of this piece. congrats !!!
No question about your extremely high skill-level - but what a weird creature ;-)
The "hand" is very organic - ENVY ENVY ENVY!
I love the texture and paintjob on the insect-eye. How did you do that texture?
Thanks for all the kind words everyone! I almost didn't finish this guy, but some folks over on the Clubhouse kept pushing me to. There are a lot of things I'd do differently now, as I learned a lot as I went along on him. The claw arm was the last part of him I did, and in my opinion, the best. I may do another bug-type creature sometime soon just to get it out of my system.
Aseyngel- I did the eye texture with a mechanical pencil tip. I put a layer of castilene over the smooth eyeball, laid a sheet of plastic wrap over it, and then pushed little circles into it over and over. Works pretty well for bug eyes.
Also, here are some slightly better shots. I'm going to look for a new camera today. I've been using a point and shoot too long.
Take care.

Excellent work! The sculpt is really detailed and I love the pose and the base, I can really see this thing moving and causing some havoc in the shadows.
It has a real intelligent, sentient look about, the eyes look like its preying on a victim and ready to strike!
really well done, paint job is superb.
would love to see some WIP pictures if you have any, i love seeing things like this in there raw state, makes it all the more impressive when its done.
great job.

Yeah, excellent use of textures.
nice work! love the muscle / sinew detail, when you said you'd gotten it out of the mould, what do you mould with and cast in?... and how many seperate pieces is it in?
