    Tony Hough's New Bits

Time to kick off a new sketchbook thread. I'll start with a new sketch I did between clients at the tattoo studio where I'm currently learning that particular medium. This could be the basis of a "biomechanical" sleeve or legpiece, or could be used for something else entirely. Original was done in pencil. This has been refined in Photoshop.

    More stuff

First this was a small pencil line sketch worked ou on Photoshop using filters. Either decorative or potentially a backpiece tattoo.
Next a robot scorpion done in pencil.
A little faery creature, pencil again, both of these potential tattoo flash.
My daughter got into anime last summer and urged me to do some cute anime style characters - here's one, but it needs a lot of refining and tidying up.
A friend of mine is creating a tidy little tabletop battle game involving silly model robots with interchangeable heads and limbs. Here's one of the concept drawings I did. Pencil again.

Nice creepy stuff! Where do you draw you influences from? The first post is my favourite, I think I can actually see it pulsating on the page . I have to say though I prefer the three robots un-coloured.
I think mainly because a lot of the metallic effect has been lost when you coloured it, it's hard though. I'll be coming back to see what else you have, very interesting.

Nice. That'll be a damn impressive tattoo. I think that kind of tattoo is best, rather than random hearts and fairies and other such shite. Hope the person who gets it complements it with other good stuff!

More pencilly bits intended as tattoo flash

Firstly a sort of faery creature, pencil coloured on Photoshop.
Then two variations of biomech leg designs that could go on an outer thigh maybe.

    Mother

Here's another illo that could be a tattoo flash design. Original is pencil on paper, but this version has been worked up in Photoshop.

    More from my sketchbook

I scanned up a bunch of stuff from my sketchbook, mostly pencil drawings and worked them up on photoshop. Including the funny little Fey thing from earlier.

    New Zombie

Another pencil sketch zombie from my little coloured paper sketchbook, which I have scanned and worked up using Photoshop into a kind of finished state...

Wicked stuff, you're the same Tony Hough that worked for [or at least got work published by] Games Workshop aren't you? This was about fifteen or so years ago mind you.
I remember your stuff was pretty dark compared to the other guys like Adrian Smith and Paul Bonner [I was an Ork fan mainly].

Great to see you post on here though, will keep tabs on this thread.

The very same! They were the first people to publish my work and I'm still really really into the whole Warhammer universe.

Yeah, I was then but was more into the painting of the minatures rather than the gaming. It just far too pedantic with games lasting days with literally no action.

I was thinking about sending off some work to them for some commission, but then thought you probably have to be a bit of a hardcore fan and know all the ins and outs of the characters. After losing interest in the gaming, I stopped painting minatures, so that was it really.

Did see Paul Bonner's site a while back and he's got some great paintings, though last time I looked it was offline. Shame.
