I still haven't scanned the drawings, but since oil painting class cancelled today, I started a new acrylic painting at home. Ref. is from Marcus Ranum photography.
It's not finished yet... though I already hate acrylics -_-'

Very cool artwork. The traditional paintings are looking great and in regards to the portraits, you seem to be wonderfully adept at portraying the character of each person. If I had to give some sort of suggestion it’d be as I think others have said, maybe adding a bit more softness here and there would make everything flow a little more. Anyway, I’ll certainly keep watching the progress here. ;]

Holy shit. Ur value work is great as well as the various paintings. I cant paint for my life, but maybe cuz ive only painted maybe 3 or 4 times ever. My art department in my highschool is the biggest when it comes to painting, especially acrylic. I prefer water coulor tho. Regardless, how did u get so good at painting? Any tips for some one around ur age? (I'm 18)
Comment my crappy art PLEEZ ; )

Primordial Seven: thanks for the suggestion! I hope I know what you mean, I'll try it next time I do a portrait from this series .

DaStreets: Oh that's awesome! I'm very used to acrylics, so now I try to abroad my boundaries and work with other media like oils and watercolours.
What helped me the most with getting better at painting and drawing, is drawing/painting A LOT from reference pictures, to train your eye and technique . Never stop when you think your drawing/painting is ruined, I always go further, and then it will always get better .

    fantasyartist: Thank you!

So... this is my first serious attempt at watercolours...
    It's Cerridwen. It was hard.

Update on the portrait digital .

I really like this one, the angle is pretty easy and the lightning is pretty

I tried to use a smooth brush first for the skintone, instead of texture first and smoothen it up later.
I hope that's what you mean, Primordial Seven?

knoxie: Hah, that's funny! I see what you mean , it really does look alike!

a_mckeown: thanks so much! I really love traditionals, but I think digital is a great thing when you want to start something new, but doesn't dare to do it on real canvas of paper or something like that... and it's waaaay faster!
I'll try and do a landscape again .

Cerasela: Ahw, thanks for stopping by again!
I like that effect too, but... the photoshop project I was working in from Johan, seems to be defect. It gives an error every time I try to open it . So I'm afraid I can't go further with it, or I have to start over again...

So, here is an update from Anuschka's digi.
I couldn't help myself adding some details. I think I make the cheeks and other things than the eyes/nose/lips more blurry later, because I think I did a little too much strokes on the skin. Right now, imo... there is a nice focus on the center of the face, the eyes, nose and lips .

Wow Marlisa, every time I come back there's more great art and progress!

The digis are improving as fast as ever, your getting really good with skin tones!!!!!!!!

but its the Witch watercolour that really caught my eye, wonderful lighting! Nice job with such a hard medium as well!

Take care and all the best,
    matt

congadingsda: thank you... you are right!
Maybe it's smarter to take a week off of drawing XD

    For now, a new thingie.
I finally found the courage to start a digi from mind.
Meris/Jacqueline from my band, came with the idea to make us as faeries (since we make FaeryFolk music... which is fairytale like, but with more power ).
So I started with my own Faery... and I like it so far!

It came out better than I'd expected... but maybe when I see it tomorrow, I hate it again (like I always do).
I have doubts about the skirt, maybe it's too girly this way... I want to make rough faeries, not girly cinderella ones... Maybe a short skirt with awesome boots XD

Haven't left feedback here in a while, sorry about that
Watercolors don't ever do exactly what you want, that's the fun part of using them, ehee! I LOVE the magic forest. It really feels magic.
Also, your digital skills never fail to astound me. You improved so much!
The referenceless character is very good, great expression, but watch the food there - even if the shape is rough at this point, it's still in a position that doesn't look natural.

Ariel9: Hey Ariel, thanks for visiting again! I should practice more with watercolours
I know the foot is not right... but I don't know what to do with it yet. I guess I'll reform the shape when the base colours are done .

    New digi update!

I'm still very busy with the portrait series of friends and family.
The reason why it's taking me so long, is because photoshop or my computer, makes the files broken. Sometimes I upload a PSD file in photoshop and it gives an error (can't open the file). Sometimes I can't view the files anymore, because the program to view them gives an error.
    Sometimes they are like this;

    http://www.marlisasimonis.nl/Johan-1.06.JPG

So, while making this digital of my best friend Nienke, I had a backup at my website, at the computer downstairs, and at the computer of a friend of mine.

    Name: Nienke-final-klein1.jpg
Views: 697
Size: 103.8 KB
    Name: Nienke-final-klein2.jpg
Views: 688
Size: 54.2 KB

... because when I made this one, I didn't had a backup, and that's the reason why this thing isn't finished yet (and can't be finished, because photoshop gives an error when I try to open it).
I had done more, but didn't send the saved file to my friend, so this is the last saved file that my friend had (yes had... she deleted it after sending it to me, so this broken file is.... still broken -_-').
