Not much today yet I researched anatomy again (and baked cookie and drank wine but that didn't take so much time). It's amazing how many crucial facial muscle can be injected with botox... I saw some impressive before/after videos. One can completely lose the ability expressing her/him/hir/their/whateverself (I don't know all neutral forms but I don't understand why they're needed. we Hungarians has no genders in our grammar and it's good this way. my gender identification problems were worse enough without that since I realized I don't need to choose one box of the two, I'm fine). Neurotoxin at their best...erm... worst? I'd never wish to paralyze my muscles. But some people are strange. Some even let others to think instead of them. Just because they don't think much enough in the first place to realize how basically wrong is their thinking.

Oh, drawings. Even some sketchier ones (but there's a limit what I'm willing to show ).

Hm, Ernőke (I wonder if the Hungarian accents appear properly, this one is often tricky. I was the programmer for some sites with various languages. I spent a lot of time on special characters, localization of games, whatnot. I usually didn't enjoyed it... *shudder*), the little horny boy ("I've found porn magazines in your room!!!" "I reached pubescent, Mom." "My dear boy, you're FOUR!". it started like this) never died. Many other character did. In interesting creative ways you'd probably like. My favourites are the less brutal more humorous ones. Oh the dragon and the knight. Those are good. Knight stabs dragon. Nothing happens. "what the...? DIE!" "No." "why not?" "because it's not a dragon slayer sword, just a plain pitiful crap." Oh it's way better in Hungarian and there are few that impossible to translate. The drawing is here, it's kinda plain this time . And the stupid knight's attempt to remove her chastity belt with a flame thrower or something. The dragon arrives and have a conversation with the knight about the impaired girl. "It never will grow back." "it won't?" (in Hungarian it's a simple "no?", it has the "yes?" version, in a similarly intelligent situation. I often use it when I'm with my BF and in a very childish mood.)

I have a very bad day. I realized again I can't draw AT ALL. I have knowledge, I know it but I can't _draw_. It just happens if I'm warmed up and get lucky, copy or something. But I can't draw human bodies by myself at all. I need to do some Christmas entries on Tegaki and after hours my sketch is like a very beginner kid's one after 1 minutes. I'm down so much.

maybe a crit would be to really try and think about what your doing before you do it. Why your making this line or brushstroke.
You should try some studies where you focus on how much information can you give with only a certain amount of lines.

Crappy, crappy day. No life, barely no practice, just struggle. I still have no idea how to start drawing. I have no idea about anything. Every day is almost a perfect tabula rasa, square one, whatever - and TODAY it was dark too! Stupid weather, I didn't get any sunshine, I can't function without that...

At late night I gave up and started to draw skulls It cheered me up.

Firstly, I am sorry that you translated the dragon comic book just because of,
me, I really appreciate that, but I was honestly thinking that you realize that
I understand Hungarian. I thought that you saw some of the writings between
my sketches, and that you already realized that I understand Hungarian.
Anyway, thank you very much for the effort, I appreciate it, and I want to
say, that I love those comics, haha, not brutal enough but funny as hell.

About your "not able to draw" problem;
I honestly do not realize what is the issue here?
You are doing this for years, so it is impossible that you hands did not
got trained and your mind cannot focus on something simple like a skull or
something? I think that the problem is truly of mental nature. You just think
that you have a blockage, and as you sit down to draw or paint, that little
machine starts in your head, and got some paranoia, you get frighten that
you will do the drawing wrong, and in the end because of all this pressure,
you just do the drawing wrong. I repeat, it is impossible, not to learn drawing
if you do it every day, for example, try to draw apples for 10 days,
1000 apples daily, you may screw up the first 4000, but the rest of them got
to be better. You just compare the very first and the 10.000th, and you
will see what I am talking about. Impossible is just a word.
So instead of creating ideas in your head, try to draw, and draw, I am
here to support you, I will give you daily assignments if you want, I will
help you to overcome your fears and your art blockage.
Saying that you cannot draw "AT ALL" is just pure nonsense.
Being childish is not bad at all, but being afraid to move out from your
comfort zone is bad.
Your desire is to be able to do the four horsemen challenge, so let
that be your goal. Set yourself some goals. You want to be able to
draw or paint the four horsemen the most beautiful way as it can be painted.
Build your foundations accordingly to your final goals.
You see, you have done these last studies outstanding, I like the skull
and the female portrait, they are not master pieces but they are beautiful
enough to conquer someone's heart, and should you ask for more?
I am here to help, I am willing to work with you together, you have the
spirit, you cannot give up, we can talk every day or every other day,
share our thoughts, you helped me a lot on my journey, and we know each
other only for a week or two. The next year will be double better than this one
was, cause together we are stronger.
So, do not hesitate, just draw/paint and post.

Today my mood was fine... But I'm still damn slow!!!
Maybe it's bad that I do nothing but try to draw. One need more variety. I know that but what can I do in winter, not even riding my bike. I read and listen to music, cook and whatnot. But I desperately want to make my drawing todo list a little smaller and myself a bit better.

Not brutal enough...? How many did you see...? There are some pretty gore scene there.
I forgot to reply last time. I chose the nick 'shinin' already when I realized it has much more to it than it's japanese meaning (though everyone think it's English and shinin' ) and I capitalized the NIN part. I rarely listen to Reznor though I love many of his songs. They require the right mood or something... But I love them nevertheless My favourite is Something I Can Never Have and the others from Pretty Hate Machine... and Hurt I barely knew the new albums or the many good remixes
1000 apples. I'd refuse to draw any apples but that's not the point.
My problem isn't with quality but quantity (well both, but my quality is bad because the quantity is almost zero). I won't talk about it, it's pointless, it's my fight It's the phenomenon when someone CAN'T sit down to do something. She/he tries all day, all week, every month of the year... and it doesn't happen, just sometimes. There are powerful things that works against that. Time just slips away. And when not, mood, state, whatever is bad and the results are bad, disheartening... But the main problem is that I draw little. I wake up and try. And the first 10 hours pass without drawing or doing anything. It sounds very pathetic and probably it really is. I never drew much but I guess I lost something somewhere and now it's a task, struggle, not joy and a hedonist DOESN'T do something that isn't joy.
But drawing is interesting and fun when I'm already warmed up, I don't understand...
My perfectionism is a problem too. I don't dare to draw a "real pic" just little studies... But trying to draw faces right forever (and always fail) is too much for a lazy hedonist.
But it's my problem.
You really helps being around, I feel the urge to update (even without Mel Gibson I think he would shock me so much that I couldn't draw for a while) and seeing your others' sbs I feel the urge to show you all how one does these things... (I'm an interesting mix. I'm very confident by default but my low drawing skills combined with my cruel inner critic twist my personality. It's very bad.)

I went to napirajz.hu today and read some more comics, and there are some
very cool ones. And there are also some sick brutal ones, which I like of course.
Gore scenes satisfies my needs. Today I was listening a bit of NIN cause, we
were talking about it. I was in the right mood for the music. Black, snowy day.
It makes me sad, that you cannot find the right time and mood to draw. Do
not worry about that either, when the right time will come, you will draw, and

Very good hand muscle paintings, and I like those black gloves, they look
kinda futuristic. Something like in the game Crysis.
The face study, Teresa is pretty much ok, except that her eyes are a bit
shifted to the left. That is why you should flip the painting from time to time
horizontally and vertically while you paint, so you could detect any anomalies.

LtPlissken: Well I made drawing my first priority, I was very stubborn, I didn't even searched for a job... One year, zero income (except my inheritance. the fact my Mom died pretty much ruined this year of mine, I couldn't even think about a job or anything) and total fail Except my adventures with my lovely bike. I should give up, study and get a job. It won't be easy. Last time it took 1.5 years but now I don't want to work in an office in the capital anymore. We'll see.

Life is long? Well, with my current improvement I won't be able to draw a human well till my death. And I plan to live long. But even if that wouldn't be the case, I struggled more than enough.
Teresa's eyes are completely wrong, really, a bit to the left, the shadows played tricks with me but it's wrong horizontally too but these not really interest me. They can be fixed and I recognize such things when I look at the drawing well (I never used the flipping trick because I always forget about it. I read about it all the time in Critique Center, that's a great place But I forget to look at my stuff for long too... *sigh*). I didn't even do that because I simply find the eyes not cool looking, I will redraw them anyway. or the whole face. In grayscale, I can't focus on coloring yet, I'm too unskillful at faces. I can't even draw a front or profile face well. Not even an eye. I simply can't accept my current level even if my faces are the best of my work. The other areas are neglected.
Those aren't really gloves, just black finger things, I just painted them without thinking But I like how they look too Fortunate accident.

Who needs a job, I do not need a job, I do not want to work, I want to draw
all day long. I am so sorry to hear about your mother's death. (Fogadd
reszvetemet). I guess I understand how hard is then for you to draw and
to paint. You are going through some emotional phase, and you have to
be real strong. All I can do is to encourage you through my words here and
to cheer you up if I can.
Do you like to ride a byke? I ride a bicycle also, my mileage is
around 200km's monthly, and I ride it all through the year, no matter if the
weather is good or bad.
You are just too harsh on yourself by saying that you will never be able to
draw a human figure or a cool face. I will have to repeat to you this every day
until you are cured from this self judgment. You need to evolve, you need
to be more free spirited. I will cut the chains that holds you sooner or later,
you will see.

Ah, sleepy day indeed, that is why you should draw and paint even more,
so you could not fall asleep. Skull study ok, I like it.Now try to do one more digitally
for example do the front view, and try to detail it out even more. That is just

Most bikers have some stubborn and maybe too strong right hand muscles and this combined with little skill, confidence and a too powerful bike, well, it can be a bit dangerous. I'm too cautious, usually, but still, it's good my bike accelerates slowly above 110-120 km/h...
I know, I know, my spirit/state/whatever blocks me, not my tiny but existing skills and knowledge. I want to level up asap, I just want to use my existing knowledge...

You have an excellent knowledge of human anatomy, which is great. but what really staggers me is you rarely use that knowledge to do some work from your imagination. I still don't see what's keeping you from drawing a head from your imagination. Now don't get me wrong, i really like the skulls you paint; they look natural. When i read #313, i wanted to write a long reply but simply restrained myself from doing it because you'll try to write a long explanation and waste your time. I hate to repeat myself but if i make it short "you are the only force which is stopping you from being a successful painter". simple as that. Now please don't give me a long list of excuses my friend. Instead do me a favor as a friend, for this New Year. Draw something from your imagination. It doesn't have to be perfect. I cant paint as half as you do so be proud. What really matters is you give it a try and don't give up for any reason. Now, as Plissken has mentioned before,we are here with you, so don't you worry.

devastacio: At this point if I draw ANYTHING, it's something. I need to draw and draw and draw. At one point I will do it by myself but now it would result in doing nothing. I obviously reference my skulls because I learn their forms now. I could do ones by myself, but they wouldn't close enough for a real one.
I'd love to draw figures by myself. But I can't. Oh yeah, I should do Bridgman studies today too... If Bridgman can't help me now, no one can
Faces are the only things I can do by myself but I need much more variance and expressions too.
They aren't excuses, just explanations. I know I have to draw by myself. I have to do a lot of things I happen to not to do, not even if I try. I won't force myself, that's a bad attitude if one is a hedonist and it's useless if one has no self discipline.

I go slowly. The top speed of my baby bike is barely above 130km/h... I totally not endanger others than many bikers. There are little traffic here and I usually go totally slowly, my favourite speed is around 80-90 I just need somewhat curvy roads for that. When the road is straight, it's damn hard to go so slow and there are a greeeeeeeeeat good quality road here where being slow would be a sin. Curves everywhere!
The Alps were a bit hard for me, especially where I had to brake for long because it was a steep slope
Don't let me talk about bike riding. I will write forever.

Ramalooke: I think I'm different. And it may be my biggest problem. I just started to draw at some point because I felt the urge. Order, irresistible force, desire to be able to draw, but drawing because I wish to draw... I don't know that feeling well. I just try to make myself to draw, that's horrible, and seeing my low level isn't nice but when I'm already drawing, that's okay and if I'm even warmed up, that's cool! It wasn't that in the first years when I was totally crappy, I wonder how I survived those times.
I guess I have an anatomy overdose, I NEED to draw fun stuff. Even if they will be at a lower level *sigh*

Just some lazy sketch but they are seeds And signs I feel better now. I try to do other stuff I usually do nowadays... and a face (sleepy morning sketch, I'm so tly an evening person ) but I tried to draw a smile. I'm very bad at that but I don't wanna draw those simple boring faces, very few types, neutral expression, simple angles... But I can't even draw those well...



(One of the four riders of Apocalypse rides a camel in my version. They are horribly inconsistent because another rides a motorbike. If that monster can be considered one... I'm not very tolerant, I don't consider either most scooters nor the Gold Wing and other similar luxury vehicles and V8 powered beasts "motorbike". Quads are okay, trikes... maybe, they can look pathetic There are other special stuff but I'm sleepy now and no one is interested I guess)

I will fall asleep if I keep listening to this meditation radio... I switch to my usually metal radio (it's a nice one, no normal death metal, I can't do much with that. Melodic death, well that's different, one of my fav genres ).

Try to increase the opacity of the brush settings when painting.

Hey there,

Im glad that you are doing your own version of 'four riders of Apocalypse'. Looking forward to the next update of this concept.I like the portrait of the girl too. Especially her eyes. Btw i was trying to search for good tutorials for painting and i came across these videos. I think there should be more of this series, but for now, this is all i found. I rushed through them and i really like em. Give it a go as you could enhance your painting skills.

Hey dude!

Don't worry about being slow,I am really slow with my work too,here is my rough process with freelance stuff:
-sketching:at least 30 minutes because I suck at gesture drawing,so I always struggle to find the forms and dynamic poses etc.
-rough painting:60 minutes,because I haven't figured out how to paint forms quickly,so I just wobble around and the result is that I am very slow with it
-finding and correcting mistakes:2-4 hours,this is the most annoying part...
(-starting drinking extreme amounts of coffee,because I get angry and tired)
-finalizing:2 hours...this is actually the most rewarding part,because everything starts clapping together,and that's just fun..

And some advice about digital painting:watch how you lay down your strokes!I figured out some weeks ago that it's almost exactly the same as traditional painting,where you can't just wobble around and try to make forms,because:
-A:It will fuck up the brush(okay that doesn't count in digital)
-B:If you paint blobs,the forms come much harder,but if you paint along the surface and think in 3D,you will get a much better result.

In that last painting of the woman,the neck looks really good,because it looks like you used economic brushstrokes,with few values,so you "explain" the form clearly.

(These advices of course might not be correct,I just found that they work for me.I suggest that you should watch some digital painting timelapses on youtube and get some tricks from the pros,you can learn a lot that way!)

The skulls look fantastic,I can really feel the form there,maybe you should do an extended study of one,and try to make it as refined and smooth as possible!
