nice work, sometimes your knight helmets seem like they wouldn't fit the face very nicely though.. try doing something a little bolder with the color though

Hey James, shame I didn't catch you while you were in Berlin, by the look of your sketches you're an interesting character, who makes interesting characters.
Keep rocking the updates and see you around on here or elsewhere
(OMG WTB CA Meet in Europe :<).
Hehe, funny that Helioth mentioned the same but yeah I'm sorry too we missed your message on the Berlin-thread. Hope you don't feel bullied, we just don't show up in there too often ...![]()
Btw. nice skill level you show here ...![]()
updates please >_<

5* from me
bbbbaanging work brother jimalim. nice roland u snuck in there. ur styles realydeveloping but i think u mite be limiting ur art as well by only drawing what u draw well - doing full length or sections of male figures, often with bits of armour etc. for just ur personal growth thats bad because...you need to be pushing yourself. but also if ur serious about going into concept art u need to be good at creatures, environments, men women and children of all shapes sizes and ages, animals, vehicles....etc.
easy to fix this. and drawing the things around u from observation more will fill that very important mental library in your head which inspires all the character designs in future. peace XXXXX
Hmm. So you nag me to join Concept Art, and then nothing new goes up on your own sketchbook. How very, very hypocritical. Hey guys, did you know that this guy is hoarding seven moleskines of work, imagine that! Seven! You blogged earlier, so maybe I'm over-reacting a little bit, but you need to put more up here. I'm serious.

I wish to tell you a story, a poem if you will;
Ahem...
There Once was a boy called Jim
He never updated
This made small kittens cry
the end.
Admittedly its no booker prize winner but I feel the moral shines through.
After seriously upsetting several small cats I have decided that a new post was in order.

i am happy..every time u post i come over all tingly down there..... no moleskine i see? what is this heresy. i didnt really see any of ur foundation work id love to see what u get up to at uni.

ur ability to execute what u do is getting better, but ur still not pushing the boat out in terms of trying new things. new subjects, textures, new approaches to rendering etc. looking at ur first page from almost exactly a year ago, the pages seem really similar. no extreme closeups or environments or vehicles or studies. increase in life drawing which i greatly approve of ! but theres still a lot of whole human figures , in armour, with funny annotations, from the conventional jim angle. nothing from above or below etc. human anatomy generally concealed by a lot of armour so itll be hard to learn anything there. what im trying to say is PUSH YOURSELF!!!!! do something u have never done before and u will reap the benefits, trust.
what im saying is kind of embodied in roland, in the sense that u are retreading old ground over and over. granted u are getting better at it, but u need to breath some fresh life into it... innovation really speeds up improvement! personally if i need a boost i watch a nature program or film or just look at some amazing art.
peeace bro XXXXXXX
Wow, u have some cool a** work here. I like the whole knights thing u have going on, they look very unique. I'd like to see more stuff from you, post more!

I like your pencil style! Time to update!![]()
Hells bells, I've neglected this sketchbook in much too long, all of the posts are from my foundation year, and I'm now a third year illustration student, and having started this term, I feel I could use the help that this place has always given me! I'll upload whatever I can find that is appropriate on the laptop now, and upload more later

(before I am torn to shreds for posting 6 images in 3 years, I would like to add that there will be many many more on the way.)
YaY!
Your sketchbook pieces are incredibly fun and entertaining.
Not only are you awesome because you do pencil works... but you are equally awesome with the skill in which you do them!
Keep up the good work.
