the red/blue figure drawing's got to be my favorite.![]()

some of your figure studies look a bit incomplete.
but I agree, the blue one stands out a lot
lol the only long pose (about 30 min) was the first onethe rest are all pretty much quick poses ranging from 1 min, 5 min, to 15 min(at the longest). Most of the class was gestures. :/ Which makes me sad since I loved working for longer periods. Other then that everything else is from high school D:
Hey guys. Well, i havent been accepted yet (hopefully will) at Ringling. This is my current portfolio that I am thinking of sending. Could anyone (preferably whomever has already been accepted) take a quick look and give me some advice? its 16 pieces, i feel i should take a few out. Cant really choose though i already went through about 50 pieces haha.

Could you please make a mirror, opera is going crazy on that site by some reasons and it's not very useful even in IE (unless there's a specific reason why you want that Iphone style floatingness to be there)?

yeah that site is barely loading
just as a note.. the name of the thread being "Accepted Portfolios", perhaps it would be best if people would wait until they get their acceptance letter. Alot of people (earlier in the thread) posted either "I intend to apply" or "I haven't applied yet" and disappeared. I think for someone breezing through the thread, not reading what people are saying, those images posted could be quite misleading. so perhaps we could wait until you have the letter in your hand before you post... hope this doesn't seem too rude...
Justin, agreed.
Also, any newcomers should keep in mind that acceptance rates vary by year. If there is a year with a lot of high quality portfolios being applied with, the acceptance threshold will tighten considerably. Whereas some years have fewer amazing portfolios so the yardstick will change. Everything posted here is only a guideline, always try to outdo yourself and only yourself when creating portfolio pieces.
Here, and sorry.

I don't really see why everyone had a problem with his choice of site (I mean, unless you had technical difficulties). I think it's really cool, and I'm glad I clicked on it. Then again, I'm using Firefox and FF is wonderful in comparison to IE or Opera (those browsers are TERRIBLE) so I guess that explains everything.
Nice pieces. ^^
Oh well, whichever works you can use hahahaah it may depends on your internet connection or video card. Glad you liked it, i think it presents everything very well. Thanks btwnothing to change/cut/remove/polish?

5coop, I think that your portfolio is good, but I feel like you're missing some medium variety.
Good idea. I was about to post my portfolio here as I intend to send it, but I see how that could cause some confusion. I will probably post it up in the critique center (best place, I'm assuming?), as should anyone else looking to improve their portfolio before its finalized.

The website won't load on Safari. (At least it hadn't after a minute or so and I closed the window)
Your portfolio looks good.
I really liked your animal gestures. In general, your gestures are good, as they are accurate. But they don't show movement, which is sometimes the goal of gestures (or short poses) Here are some fantastic zoo animal gestures that I found:

thanks for the links! )
flash can be really buggy at times
your works look good, I totally like the zoo sketches; gestures are... I'd leave them there, but I don't like them as much as the other work;
speaking of tastes, i absolutely dig this -

I'm not too sure if you want to keep this piece there -

I'd either spend a day working on it or just remove it at all

this one is just beautiful
Thank you very much guys you've been a great help!

I got into product design at Art Center last term, doing the IDF with other kids like Justin...
http://portfolio.angoulvant.net/
there's a link to my PDF portfolio and resume
I just got in early decision to the Illustration Dept at the School of Visual Arts (fall 09).
Here are some pieces from my portfolio. Good luck to everyone waiting on a decision or yet to apply.
kuwakovski, hey, cool stuff. Do you happen how much you got?
Thanks.
kuwakovski did you apply for any sort of scholarship, or did you get any scholarships?
btw I really like your work!
You have very developed skills already! Where are you studying now? Did you request advanced placement?
Thanks, guys. I did apply for scholarships, however I won't know the results for a few weeks.
Maxine, that's very kind of you! Thanks! I've never actually had any formal art training, so I don't have any AP credits.

I can't tell you how impressive it is that you are totally self taught and doing work at this level! You seem to have an innate sensitivity to composition and design, form, planar structure, color, and, in my opinion the most important quality - your work has genuine feeling.
They will be very lucky to have you as a student ! Do you live in New York?
What are your career goals? Are you dependent on scholarship aid to go to school? Please let me know how things go for you...and good luck.
Kepano I really love your portfolio. I like how you laid out your images too it looks really professional.
kuwakovski DUDE I LOVE YOUR FIRST PIECE (tho part of it is cause on the right it's vietnamese my native language) and I really like the portraits you do, especially the first one. It has such a clean smooth liquid look to it![]()
