See? You just went from circle hands, to one that's got some skill behind it!

The thumb is a little odd, and one or two adjustments/modifications needed on the back of the hand, but otherwise, nicely done!

you know what else will help your art look better - better SUPPLIES!

Whatever markers your using look like crayola or sharpies that are drying out. Get some good markers. Better supplies = better art experience, and better control/results with the media.

Fresh sharpies, copic markers as far as I know are good, you could try prismacolors - although once they start getting old you'll see it. Or if they're leaky, you'll know it.

Also, that pink box with the checker pattern - what effect are you going for?

To HitnRun: I was A) using Faber-Castell Markers, and Copic Multi-liners for those, B) I was also trying to simulate pixel dithering with a Multi-liner, and C) actually I have a bunch of Copic Markers and a pair of Sharpies, but don't get to use them very much. (Mainly due to them bleeding.)

    Aaahso!

@"the markers bleed" - that's something you need to learn how to control - and by this I mean find how far to the edge the tip of the marker can come before the bleed finds the edge. You can also try a higher quality paper, that could help stop the bleed a little. And yes, you have brand name stuff - but it looks to me like it's dying somewhat, or you need to go over the blackened areas again.

LOL and what's with Napolean? Confusing, but funny!

Just wanted to say thanks for the nice feedback on my sketchbook and thought I'd check out yours. Your proportions are improving, those torso studies a page back are wonderful, I'd like to see more of that simple and loose linework. A reoccurring error in some of your figures is small heads in comparison to their bodies though, what helped me learn is to focus purely on the size the head in comparison to the width and length of the torso. If you're used to constructing the head from a circle try making it from a square which is how Bridgman suggests drawing heads.

Try not to get caught up in the small unimportant details in the figure such as small lumps from muscle or bone or abs. Try to keep your figures limited to a few simple loose lines portraying the large masses.

To Hitnrun: I might have to try your suggestion, and the Napoleon gag was meant to mock Obama's disregard for the US Constitution. (I'm not very fond of either the Religious Right, leftists, or conspiracy theorists.)

To Xamllew: Thanks for the advice, I'll try to keep that in mind.

Hey, you have some nice perspective-stuff I really like

I'm still learning just like you, but to me it seems like when you get to the anatomy, you start to rush a bit? Maybe you already know it, but there's a page called artsyposes.com that has lots of people. Anatomy books don't make much sense to me unless I have at least a few images of people to refer back to.
Now I didn't look through your entire sb pages, but maybe also try a bit of shapes/forms from things around you?

Anyways, keep it up and you will get there!!!

In case if you were wondering what do I have against PoxPower:
    1. He's not funny, nor a good writer. Honestly, why does he write about current events in the US when he lives in Canada? I'm willing to be that he doesn't know a whole lot about what he 'lampoons.'
    2. He's a lousy game designer. I mean, most of the games he's made aside from what he did with BoM Toons and Mew Barrios are buggy and improperly tested.
To his merit, he knows how to draw, but that's pretty much it.

hey! i think the perspective thing looks cool and so does the marker form human study

definitely right now I think would benefit you a lot is copying from anatomy books and studies from life, you're lacking a solid foundation in terms of drawing but you could definitely improve!

    goodluck! and keep it up

Hey man, thanks for stopping by my SB!

Congrats for the great effort you're putting in to it, your first post is from 2008, that's a lot of time. The pixel-art/sprites stuff are interesting too.

I did saw all your drawing until page 19, then i skipped it a little bit to the end (sorry for that, lots of drawing you have man). Just think you need too give your drawing a little bit more "mass", "drawing trough the form" kind of thing. A simple tip that worked well for me: Play around a bit with some 3D software, try to extrude some faces and edges, learn a bit about modeling. Maybe you'll see that it helps a lot when trying to see the structure of an shape or drawing.

Hey, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook a few days back! I hadn't noticed until today.

As for your sketchbook, it was pretty nice to see some visible improvement over time regarding your anatomy studies. Definitely stick with those and keep churning them out! Practice makes perfect (or damn near). On the other hand, perhaps hold off on the color studies/marker tests things.. I think you need a bit more line and value study before exploring the other fruitfully.

    Keep drawing!
