keep up with those pencilpages, they look great. Digi studies looking good as well, think you values improved somewhat. Only crit for now would be taking care about edges a bit more. Keep it up bro.

Fetsch: Thanks man, I'll keep that in mind.

Just a little bit of stuff. My studies are at a higher suck level than they should be. Damn you form... I'll get you yet. Anyway, more to come.

Great improvement from the first page, maybe try painting more from life to help you improve with colors faster.
    Keep up the good work.

Hey man! What I found out a few days ago is to try paint with 100% opacity on your sketch brush. You only set the opacity with the numpad. That's why my stuff looks totally unsharp. Like yours sometimes, too. Great for still life studies etc!

keep up the good work dude!

    Looking good!

Loving the enthusiasm with the studies. I wish I could dump out anatomy studies like that.
    Keep up the good work!

WOW! The improvement in this thread is simply amazing! Thank you so much for the inspiration! I really love the anatomy in your studies, especially the boxers! May I ask where you get your references from? Your paintings are getting really good too! I cant wait to see what kinda stuff you can make for environments! Keep up the hard work, because I definitely will thanks to you! You are awesome!

Emil_: Yeah, thanks man. I need to start working in life paintings.
Lord M: Definitely not amazing... but I will be soon enough... I won't let you down
Ludic: Thanks! I'm still trying to figure it out and get a better flow down, but it's coming along slowly.
TRAP!: Thanks much. I've been trying to change it up a bit to find something that works.
Kvenh: Thanks! I'm trying to be more productive, trying to avoid distractions. More to come.
Not_Deadman: Thanks a lot man, I appreciate the kind words. I still have a lot to do and feel like I'm getting closer to getting over a wall... we'll see. As for reference, I got the recent MMA fighter studies off of a thread on Sherdog.com. Usually I use mmaphotography.com for those, and I also use the stock photo section of deviantart a lot for figures. You can also try kindgirls.com but be aware that it's bordering on pornography. However there is some good reference there if you avoid the other stuff. I'd also recommend googling "gesture drawing tool", which is a very nice resource. Thanks

    Wow, 2 months almost
Well here is all the stuff I've been doing since. I need to make more of an effort to update often. It's kind of sad that like 90% of the digital stuff I'm posting are just complete fail studies. But I need to post my bad stuff too to track my progress.... I also wouldn't have much to post otherwise. I should really be improving faster....anyway, I think I'm making some progress in the stuff I'm currently working on which you should see in my next post.

Here's all my utter crapwork...Better stuff to come hopefully.

Good shit man. Your line work is getting tighter and tighter. I like your style and it's good to see more work in colour too (and you're doing a good job with it to boot!).

I think you're a little line heavy though. Try drawing in terms of toned shapes instead of just out lining or searching for the lines that make the edge of a shape or form. A good way to think of drawing: it's just shapes, edges and values. that's it.

Hope this helps. Keep pumping out the goods. Rock on!

Mr.Pryminista: Thanks a lot man. Yeah you're right, I do pretty much 100% line with my pencils. I'll start mixing it up with value too. Thanks

Here's some stuff I totally forgot to add yesterday. It was almost two months so I forgot about some stuff. So yeah, until next time... more fails.

Fetsch: Thanks man! Yeah, you're totally right, I've actually started doing that more lately and it's helped quite a bit.

Just a few things for the week. Also a WIP I'm not sure if I'll come back to or not. And as Mr.Pryminista suggested I actually did some shading in my pencil work. Woooo

Wreck: Hey man, this is the beginning of me getting back in action. Keep in touch.

All right, so it's been around... wow.... 5 month....man, too long. Can't let this happen again. Long story short, basically I went a month or so without updating, then a little over 3 months ago I fell nearly completely out of my art schedule for close to 3 months due to some personal life events. I got back from the Massive Black Workshop in San Francisco close to two week ago which was awesome. It was a fantastic experience, I learned quite a bit, met some cool people, and really got great insight on how to proceed with my work. It really helped me identify weak points and how to fix them. In addition to that it got me extremely motivated and I've been back in my art schedule for around a week now. Time to get awesome.

Most of this is older work from a few months ago aside from Tommy Lee Jones and some of pencil work.

Thanks guys. Soooo I believe this has been the longest gap in my sketchbook so far. I almost let it go a year. Not much to say except this past year has kind of been crazy for me and I've only really been getting it together the past few months or so. Even more so these past few weeks. I've really been able to pinpoint my weaknesses lately and am going to jump right into trying to solve them now, and really pick up the pace on the progress I've been making. I think updating this sketchbook and getting a blog up will help me keep that in focus. Anyway, talking is easy, I just need to make it happen.

Here is some stuff from the past 10 months or so. I had too much to post everything I've done so this is just leaving out a bunch of older sketchbook pages and probably a few studies, sketches and such.

Cool work man, your renders are pretty frightening! =) For the last image, the lights in the city feel a bit pasted on and a bit too organically placed maybe, which lets it down a bit I think.. sorry if that is too harsh =) I suffer as well trying to make buildings look like buildings, lol. Wb man, you're doing awesome! =)
