I've noticed a strong aqua/mechanic theme been going on for a while now

nice topic!
guess it+s a bit hard to understand the story behind this picture...
i tried to do something a bit comic...as i rarely do it eheheh
the idea is that in a future, after humanity colonized the sea, the so called nerds will be acquire more and more power, but less and less girls. So they start building giant squids to hunt down happy couples and the new married ones =)
c&c welcome =)
cheers

Psychostrat: Really cool! Reminds me of Matrix/Animatrix.

Lots of great work people, I have enjoyed looking closely at everyones work!

Can't see much of the design in mine, but I had some fun (& a little frustration) in doing this.
quick thoughts
firestar great design, i like how it looks huge and manned
psychostrat nice rendering, scary looking and intimidating
pepps your story and image match perfectly, I can picture gleeful nerds inside the squid happy with their capture
lysgaard i like how you made your squid more land-based
kraven awesome rendering
snowbeat cool design, i wish it had more arms and was massive in scale
erniesthings fun designs and very cool colors
hamsta a little tough to read but looks like a great start
goran crazy rendering!
razorleaf i like this one alot more than the original one you had up, cool colors and I like all the segments
dreamscape nice design, makes me want to see the other side of it as well
gettin' back into the grooooove
Oofa this one turned out really bad.

Well, now that I'm finally situated back home, I can start doing these again!

*New Sketchbook* Come stop by :3
*SKETCHBOOK*(old)
I am currently looking for a mentor to help me improve my sketch book. Either that or lots of crits and suggestions to help me improve my skills.
browntear Right back atcha.
A little hard to read the orange thing as a squid, and the whole "giant wave due to monstrosity" isn't working quite right.
A few suggestions, to be taken with a grain of salt:
Push the scale more - change the rowboat to a cruiseliner.
Kill the saturation - turquoise water and bright orange squid are a little too cheerful, and don't match the lighting that we would expect with such clouds.
Find a better crop - Squid feels cramped on the top, I don't like the way the wave just drops off on the right side.
Could potentially be a very dynamic image.
Thanks for the great feedback Hamsta. It's definitely needed and appreciated!
Figured i start participating;
20 min photoshop.
here's mine! after a quick pencilwork, 2 hours in Photoshop... I know I'm slow, but it will change with practice. I focused on the squid design, so my environment is just 'there', no depth... I planned to use just a few colors and ended up making my first monochrome digital pic
kRaven, goran: beautiful rendering!![]()
New here...
Figured I should post something
40?? mins.... at work between customers

not the best, i got tired of it really fast.
goran, benkashmir, and Psychostrat's entries= own.
Poor quality scan (for which I apologize!) of the Mechanical Squid, drawn while sitting in a bath tub while on vacation using "Rite in the Rain" paper and pen. They work very well for the artist who might draw in inclimate weather... As long as its warm enough for ink to flow!
