Oh my! Your son hooked a keeper eh? *nudge nudge*
I've gotten a couple pages into your sketchbook, and I must say that I am thoroughly impressed.
Especially with that London London animation, that must've taken ages!
Anyway, just stopped by to take a peek at what CA's very own banning machine was skadoodlin'... I do not regret this decision.

Starting to warm up the flesh. Have to put more form in her right (our left) eye and soften that cheek line.

Looking really good. I really like how you've done her hair so far. I can see how the cheek needs to be softened. I look forward to seeing how it goes in the next updates.

Bit of an update. I can't touch it again until next week. The side of her eye will be corrected - it's not right and it's bugging me.

the problem is not with the eye but the mouth, it needs to be pushed to the right and maybe make it thinner or smaller, it seems out of place.

Well, I said I'd check out your SB. Sorry it took so long, and it also took a while to get through 64 pages, but I got there in the end.

I love your oil work. That last portrait has a feel of something medieval in the hair, and something else I cant put my finger on right now. The girl in the flowers is coming along well too. I saw your thread in the CC but didn't comment because it looked like you had all the help you needed. One thing I will say though, is that both the girls look like they have buck teeth. If they do, oops and ignore me but if not, it's not very flattering.

I also saw a huge improvement in your life drawings even over the first couple of pages, and in your digital stuff. The early ones were a bit scratchy in brushstrokes but you sorted that out and they look so much better now. Cant comment on the animation or vector stuff - it goes over my head and looks a bit clinical and flat so probably not my cup of tea.

Anyway, just some thoughts and observations. I hope they're still relevant and help a little.

Great stuff, and good luck with the girl studies.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I stuck my painting up for Critique and ballsed it up. That's okay, I'll learn. Also been pretty busy elsewhere on the board. I will get back to you all soon.

    Hi Mrs Spot

just a thought re the postrait above, her eyes look pretty much ok to me so maybe a week off away from it is just what you need with it, fresh eyes will show you they way forward.
Is it her hair thats not framing the face as you want? I dont know I am just trying to climb on board your train of thought and see where you are going lol.

stay well and all my best to you and yours.

Not sure - I seem to post things darker than they are, even if it looks okay to me.

Been very busy and the down time at CA or it running like mud hasn't helped. Still been doing loads of drawing, but I'm just going to post the last couple of paintings. Might get round to scanning some stuff later.

Still life - meant to do this in one sitting, but got interrupted a number of times.

Evolution of the dissolution in a franchise way, turning around just like a rusty key, I feel
like a muddy potato, smashed against the really sharp stiletto. The oily miracle keeps on
boiling up in your sketchbook Mrs. Spot. Haven’t been here for a month or more and you
have built yourself up a big barge. Big rig against the big barge, you decide please. The barge
is strong on the water, but the rig is strong on the land. There are good things about this
and there are good things about that, you just cannot be sure. Have you thought about mixing
up oils with turpentine and yolk at the same time? Cause if you didn’t you should start and try
from now on. Can bring you some amazing effects. In overall process you became a stronger
individual and person through your art and paintings, and I am very proud about that. As
you were painting, a whole horde of Indian wagon, passed under your window and they were
all admiring to your brushstrokes, their jaws hitting the wooden wheels of the carriage.
I have to accentuate how much I enjoy and love, when you are in a process of warming up
the flesh. It’s something that cannot be imitated nor camouflaged. You are the one, the only
one who do it in that way, and you have the right to keep the copyright. What can I say,
my surprise went overboard. I really hope that you and your family are all right and that
your motivation is rising sky high. Do keep knocking on the barrel door, cause you never
know what’s underneath the wooden floor.

Your portraiture is quite impressive, and your choice of subject in your still life pieces suggests a lot of warmth. Though engaging and well-staged, your portraits occasionally feel flat. For example, in your recent piece with the female subject, the hair seems very stiff, and seems to be floating above the face. Similarly, the pig's facial features in your most recent still life don't seem to protrude that much, and the head seems closer to the body than it likely is in reality. Perhaps if you incorporated some darker values, it would help to add a sense of volume.

Beautiful work. I would sort of agree with tudore. I am by no means and expert, and your skills with traditional work far exceed my own, so I can't recommend something specific. But it does seem that more contrast, or perhaps more saturated colors or something would make your work pop more. Lovely stuff though. Keep posting!
