Small update. More work on the hand right of picture, sod all on the other. Starting to get the flowers in. One of these days I'll photograph it in daylight.

The old western mythology says that the most beautiful and
wonderful creatures are born with two legs under the sun or
moonlight. And you, Mrs. Spot have been born with two legs,
plus with two arms, so you belong amongst the most wonderful
and cheerfuls. As things starting to go more and more insane,
the crowd starts to witness the quality of your mighty designers brain.
On 1st of November, you projected yourself in a new candle light to
the wide opened strange world. Friends and foreigners realized the
truth of justice, and the hidden mystic golden worth of your soul and
true self. Magnetic positive things radiates from deep within. That little
encampment that went down last winter, came up this evening to see
your lady between the flower painting. You presented a new way and method,
a schematic approach how things should be solved on a masterful piece.
Ancient aboriginal warmly melted love can be felt through her soft eyes.
I am waiting once more the sunshine daylight when you will photograph
this painting once again. Till then be good and take care. A brave and strong
dexterous clever queen bee is what you are Mrs. Spot.
I really can´t wait to see how it looks finished. Very interesting to see a painting progress like this.
A tutor once said to me: "Let your mind go!" and it didn´t come back.

That hand looks so much better, so does her body...good luck and keep soldiering on(p.s her foot is looking a little too square but I'm sure that's on your 'to tackle' list) loving the composition btw

This is where I got to last weekend. Haven't done anything since as my mother passed away suddenly on Monday and I'm spending all my time clearing out her house. The elbow is still not right as are various other bits. As this layer has to be right, I will take my time and get them correct and won't move on until I'm totally happy. I moved the hand on her leg down and lengthened her foot (not sure you can she that last bit). Filling in the flowers is just frou-frou.

Looks good, except i agree on the elbow issue, maybe placing the thicker part of the fore arm a little higher would work better?
Sorry for your loss

Hi Blackspot,
I was studying the portrait and looking at the hand and elbow that you dont like, and I completely missed the bit about your Mother, honestly I can be such an idiot sometimes!
I am very sorry for your familys loss and I feel for you I really do, My own mum has had severe medical problems over the last year with Cancer and a heart attack but at least we still have her around and she is mending.
I just wish there was something I could do to help ease the pain for you and your family.
all my best wishes go out to you and your family.

I'm very sorry about your mother Black Spot.
The painting is looking lovely, but her left hand feels a little rubbery to me.

Black Spot, I'm sorry to hear about your mother *hugs*.
Hope to see new updates from you.
Been away for a while, but your painting has improved so much in that time! Fabulous as always. Sorry to hear sad news, but I hope things will improve and you will continue producing more beautiful work for us!
The girl's body has definitely been improved from the beginning. It was certainly fun to watch the transformation. I agree with your earlier pose that her ankle/foot is a little wonky.
RAAAOOORRRSOME PINTING YER WERKING ON Black Spot !!! DID YOU EVER FINISH THE ANIMATION WITH ALL THE PEOPLE YOU WERE MAKING AWHILE AGO WOULD BE GREAT TO SEE XDXDXD
The beautiful images were all beautified again in your classical style! And your victor stuffs are very lively. Great!
Hey Black Spot!
[Edit] Was going to say you´re getting better as an artist, but it seens unimportant now... Sorry about your loss.
Still, you´re getting a lot better.

Thank you all for your kind words. I haven't really drawn or painted for a month and other than my Secret Santa, which I can't show until it's been posted in the Lounge, I just started again today. You wouldn't think this was 5 hours work. The picture is going to change and I need to insert some symbols to indicate who it is, but very quiet ones as to make you all guess. That wrist needs fixing.

You came a long way with this beautiful girl painting Mrs. Spot. I like it very much.
Good to know that you are started again, ignited your powerful mind and artistic machine.
As you said, maybe the wrist need fixing, cause there is no indication of wrist joint, so
it’s kind of look like an artificial plastic hand. But even if you leave it like this, it’s not
so bad, it’s looking pretty solid. I was always wondering what’s it like under her skirt,
I mean the view and all that. But it’s just me. The flower in the corner is getting that
strong natural herbarium free, sun loving look. I will be waiting so inpatiently and
eagerly to see your beautiful Santa painting Mrs.Spot. Till then wish you all the best, happy
holidays and many many beautiful drawing and painting hours.
Hand is better. I'm going to call in my model again to get that elbow sorted. Been working on the face and hair. Can you spot the symbols? Both need more work. If you haven't guessed who she is I'll tell you next year.

Reference came last night, but I still did a bit of painting before then
And here's the Secret Santa I did. The request was for fluffy bunnies or masks.

Small update. Getting there.

The painting is coming along fantastically! You should throw in some small alla prima studies when you can, it helps build up the image creation mileage.
Love the painting and it'll be great to see it finished. I don't know why I've never taken a look at your sketchbook before, but it's a real inspiration. You've improved so much in the last year alone. Got nothing to say except keep it up!![]()
Check out my sketchbook! Socially acceptable opportunity to yell at a teenage girl!
impressive drawings and paintings as usual . it has been a while since my last visit from your pages . who is the that lady ? she looks a bit serious.

Hey you. Good to see you still working away. The painting is improving all the time maybe just pay attention to the edges especially in the facial features. Hard edges can make the features look more stern then maybe intended or things pop too much if that makes sense. I really admire your dedication and commitment to work through a piece, problem solve and keep tweaking. These are really good qualities and key for progression I think.
Now hold on there Mrs. Spot. You have been secretly preparing a secret Santa drawing,
which we all knew that you are secretly preparing, but you still managed to surprise us
big time in a sun bashing fashion. Let's just sit down together a bit and try to analyze the
details about this little piece of beauty. It’s too obvious that the little masked bunnies
molested badly the poor Santa and after they eliminated him quietly in the dark woods.
Ok, Santa was a bit sadistic alcoholic himself, with a smelly armpits, but he definitely
didn’t deserved to go in this harsh way. Small innocent looking bunnies (never judge
the book by its cover), held him down for hours, urinating all over him from time
to time. Yes, the small amount of urine doesn’t do much damage, but over and over
again, it does takes it’s toll. Large fishing hooks in his body, tore him apart, just like
the stepfather being torn in Hellraiser UNO. Actually the chief bunny saw that movie.
The one standing closest to the camera, turned away facing toward the boat. Two
other bunnies in the boat, were not so nice either. They were the ones, who performed
the dry shavings on his intimate body parts. The downsides of this drawing is maybe
the contrast, the back bunnies, in the boat, should be definitely of lest contrast, so
we could distinguish the difference between the foreground, mid ground, and background.
Bottom line is that this drawing is a very fascinating marvelous approach to last years
Christmas. Your storytelling capabilities skyrocketed in some mystic way within.
The female model, flower painting is coming along nicely, you are crushing every
doubt and wrongly appointed thought in us. We still don’t know who she is, but that’s
the big mystery. Keep it that way, cause it’s like when you give children a big jar of
sweet honey, but it’s actually not honey, but they think that it’s honey, and they
fall into a nasty trap, and eat it up all sweetly. I want to wish you a big happy very
new all around year, your wishes to come true, and for you to be joyful all the time.
Lots of love.
LP, you are totally depraved and take that as a compliment.
ja1307 - it's still in sketch format. When I get into oils it'll change again.
rami - hope you're keeping well and doing what I told you. She's my eldest son's girlfriend.
Thanks everyone else.
Okay I've stuck it in the critique forum as I'm now ready for actual critiques. So many people put stuff there before they've done their best to sort out problems themselves. You've seen how I started, changed it, pushed it. If anything I'd like you all to work on that.
Also I've started to colour in the earlier study. (That red bit has been wiped out already.)
