Technically, this is where I should introduce myself to the boards as I'm kinda new here, but until someone makes an emoticon for "masonic handshake" I'll never be comfortable introducing myself online.
That's why I'll try to let some drawings do the talking, instead.

Nice to be here, and hope to do some fantastic art with you very talented people.

Now that the sketchbook has some heft to it, here are some more recent drawings I've been excreting over the last few days. None of them have the makings of anything serious or finished, so here they are, silly and unfinished.

I keep drawing that little sausage-bird. It started out as a melty blob on a guy's hat in a sculpture, and has since moved onto a lot of different shapes, most recently a "sausage."

Zelda_geek: Thanks, I always thought fabric rendering was one of the things that's so distracting when it's not done well.

Algenpfleger: It does me good to hear positive things about my color work. I'm usually pretty busy, so I don't get time to do as much coloring as I'd like to, thus the emphasis on pencils.

Today we've got a pen drawing I started while waiting in a car at the airport this afternoon. I had to move at some point, so the perspective got a little weird. That smokestack was stained with all manner of weird-looking oil streaks, but here it just looks like a SlimJim...
Next is a WIP for an agricultural robot design, for harvesting saffron flowers. It's going to be part of a presentation to apply for grant money to actually build the damn thing.
Finally, a little bit of a nude study from a photo, jazzed up a little with my own sensibility. Wanted to do more, but I'm actually late...to go do more painting. I'll have photos of that monster up once it's a little more presentable.

Trying to work a more on drawing and painting "virtuosity." To extend the music metaphor, I'd like to think I have the variety and competence of, say, Ween, but I'd also love to be able to jam like Hendrix, like some of the people on this board do.

Haha, thanks. I really want to use that "buncha guns taped to a flamethrower" idea again - I've got this "redneck commando" thing I wanna try out.

There's no real reason for the face. I just like drawing faces and I wanted to have something under the bed. Just something else to look at.

Edit: Don't wanna double-post, so here's todays update. I was thinking about how so many people here have the admirable habit of practicing drawing every day, and how there's another, not-quite-as-admirable habit sometimes associated with self-described artsy people.
Second one is just me screwing around. (They're both actually on the same page, but I split 'em and cropped out some meaningless scribbles.)

Thanks, I always try to switch things up like that since I've got too many interests to pick one style or theme and just stick with it. I should probably divide these styles into a few different pen names, though, since the Art Director is a very skittish creature who likes to know exactly what he or she is getting.

In the mean time, here's a pen drawing I did this morning, and three of nine cartoons the New Yorker just rejected yesterday. I gotta go run some errands, but I'm going to be drawing the rest of the day, so... I'll be back.

Thanks, I've been trying to do more things like that environmental sketch, going for more "polish" in drawings.

Here's a quick copy of a Rembrandt I did today, and a doodle done in MSPaint for one of those "screw around on the internet" activities. The theme was "MSPaint your dysfunction."

Ugh, kinda sick today. I seem to have a bottomless appetite for sleep, but hopefully those three cups of coffee I drank won't betray me later.

That environment pen sketch in post 11 is so freakin' cool. Also, you're the only person I've seen on the boards that can do old school manga work in the vein of Katsuhiro Otomo and the like. You should exploit that ;p

I watched the NASA live TV coverage of the landing on their web port. Pretty snazzy.

Pope fight , haha that shot is really cool . keep it up man . control your lines, maybe use some softer pencils and go larger when you draw maybe a4 a3. cuz it's a pity to waist some good ideas on small paper. Good luck

I love those comics!! The lady getting it on with the puzzle piece is hilarious. Your ideas are kickass and those comics are my favorite execution you have done in your SB.

Those punched heads are awesome studies. I really like how you can see the crater from the hit lol. Those would all be great as paintovers or atleast underlays for clean line sketches.

Keep studying various areas. I like to see that you studied a rembrandt, study from photos and from life AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Best advice i can give you or anyone. Keep it up!

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I've been trying to find publishers for those comics, and their responses have been positive but "Oh, it's just not right for us," seems to be a theme. Ah, such is life. In the mean time I'm polishing my straight-up drawing skills with some speedpaintings. Which brings me to this...

"Wait for the Wintertime" by Yeasayer came on my iPod today while I was out, and it put an image in my head. As near as I can figure out, the song is about doing cocaine, but it sounds like this:
