DESCRIPTION

Here they come!

The Host - Many things are described as "the Host", angelic choires, fae armies. One of the defining points of the Host is that on an individual level, they are also called "the Host". Research material can be found on wikipedia and monstropedia ( http://www.monstropedia.org/index.php?title=Sluagh sluagh means "host"). This is an open ended topic. "the Host" can be many differen things: Angels, Demons, Faerie creatures. Your job is to depict ONE of them.

3: IS THIS ILLUSTRATION THE BEST ONE? (reserved for rounds with a large amount of entries).

Depending on round turn out, the number of accepted entries in a given Category may vary from round to round. For example, if only 5 Advanced entries are made, that leaves EXTRA 10 slots open for Intermediate and Beginner.

Only Advanced Entries will be accepted for the the thumbs on the Queens Roster. If no Advanced entries are available for a round, then it will fall to the Intermediates. If no Intermediate are available, then it shall fall to the Beginners.

I loosely applied The Wild Hunt to my version of The Host. I always thought the Wild Hunt to be Guardians, riding their ghostly mounts through the heavens and earth... otherworldly, and yet singularly a part of our world.



Sorry for the sad sidebar - I hope it's enough to make it to the poll -- I seriously only realized it at the last minute and it was about 30 minutes of work. I hope you can tell that the main character was a LOT more than that

I would like to thank CHOW for giving me inspiration again, I had over two months of a dry spell and hadn't picked up my pen and tablet in all that time -- this was the first thing I've done in all that time and it felt really, really wonderful

After reading the definitions, I wanted to go down the track of a countryside Host that would exist around the moors in Scotland or other country parts of the UK. I decided to do a hideous and dangerous demonic Slaugh that would sort out old farmers close to death...the second concept is a more Renessiance womanly version.

Angelic beings...sort of a take on Valkyrie--Norse warrior angels that led fallen heroes to the gates of Valhalla...The ones on the side are rough concepts of a "evil" Valkyrie or maybe a Death's Angel...and a threw a fairy/satyr like woman creature in for a good measure. Despite a hectic week, and my mom going in for emergency surgery, I really liked this topic!

They cross our island from the ocean to the sea. Like a swarm of locust, they
come buzzing, searching. Its unclear where the host comes from, all we know
is that they have forsaken the lord, and the lord has forsaken them. Their
lower jaw torn so they can not sing his praises, their ears ripped so they can
not hear his word. They are without soul. But no being can exist without soul.
Digging and clawing they attack. Wearing down their victim until they are too
weak to run, too weak to fight, and as they lay bleeding, the host feasts.
