Portfolio review

Howdy, all! Since last I was here I've been doing miniature design work and a job for Wizards of the Coast. Because I'd like to get more work from WotC, I redid my portfolio. I've tried to pick my best representative pieces. Advice, comments, suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

What kind of work are you looking for?

As far as the portfolio, it shows a very limited range of work. Maybe that's a good thing - I have no idea. But I'd probably pick a few of my best characters and work them up with color, complete backgrounds, etc. I'd also throw some other pieces in there - maybe something showing interaction between the characters or landscapes, etc.

There's too many of the same thing... you might tire the reviewer out before seeing everything.

Cut the character design to maybe 5-10 pieces of your best, I agree with bluefooted, it will be wise to include other variety to show other range of skills. Especially on colors, and traditional painting skills, show some observational pieces, a least one still life will help.

bluefooted, mayshing, thanks for taking the time to look. I'm only going for miniature design work, so I should be able to get away with no background, color, etc. bluefooted, I think that paring down the amount of pics is a good idea. So the question is - which to keep and which to ditch?

(bluefooted, your painting style is fantastic - I truly wish I could do that.)

Since you are only looking for miniature work (or is that miniature design work? do you sculpt?) I think more of them need designs of the back as well. I see 2 have them.

If you want thoughts on which ones I like best I'll comment a little later.

The Dweller - thanks for the input. Yeah, I think that feedback on the best pieces is what would be most helpful right now. Looking forward to your post.

I was going to do it from work today, but never got the chance. Here's at least MY list of ones I'd suggest:

Censer Bearer
Fat Fop
Witchburner
Ghul
Giggle
Mother of Harlots
Mummy Blackguard
Elf Rogue
Laser Miner
Elector Count
Warpriest


I'd chose ones I thought were the best combination of not only character design, but ones that I thought would work best as miniatures. A mix of humans and creatures as well. If you are curious on why certain ones were picked or not picked I'd be happy to give specific feedback.
