Arrow Sketchbook - Red Fire Artwork (user: dhchamp)

    Hi CA,

    I have restarted this sketchbook.

I will do my best to update it, but knowing myself it can sometimes take a while.
also because sometimes im just too busy with other things to really take the time to draw. wich I'm trying to change.

    so bear with me.

Feedback and support is highly appreciated!

Will post a bunch of old works and works in progress in the time coming.

and as always: newest post on last page.

I'd recommend incorporating textures into your surfaces to make them look more realistic. It seems a bit too smooth for my tastes right now.

I'd like to see you draw from reference, alot. It'll help in infinite ways, it always will, always has

Something I did at one point was that I practiced drawing with a pencil just from references found on the internets and just stuff that Ifound lying around at home. When I felt comfotable/somewhat confident that I could draw something, I went outside and started drawing random people standing around (and it's summer right now, mmkay!)

Anyway, start small and build up form there. You are bound to see some nice progress like this!

Dont forget traditional mediums, atleast try acrylics or something out and see how you like them. Painting digitally and traditionally has a difference in the fact that in traditional you can actually feel your paint against the brush, get me? :p

    Keep it up!

Hey man. I think what you need to practice more is getting your technical skills down in your anatomy. Doing referenced work and doing life work at the same time is crucial because both are very important.

an experiment/excersize im working on at the moment. just something i wanted to do. in thumbnail stage now. looking for design elements and shapes. will pick one and then make a new finished artpiece out of it. and will research and practice the elements that i need to get it to a artpiece i can be happy with.

last few weeks/days in school before graduation. so its really busy at the moment. that and preparing for a sport weekend trip to germany and finishing my painting for my brother.

but here is what i am working on now:

All I can see now is that in both images you seem more worried about the 'finish' than the underlying form.
You can't hide the forms etc under texture. Put down some building blocks first and then work into the details etc.
