Current goal is to do a self-portrait once a month to determine progress as well as incorporating past and current studies.

This month's studies: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain (Betty Edwards) and Drawing the Head and Hands (Andrew Loomis).

Critique:

1. Face is too long, specifically in the chin region.
2. Face is too narrow, makes me look Vulcan or something.
3. Use of construction lines helped define best head and face shape to date.

Its great that you are doing this and it should be fun to see you develop. What I would say is really spend time on what you are doing and try to really draw what you see, not just the symbol of what you see.

What I mean is that self portrait looks like a cartoon because withy the eyes you have just drawn what you think an eye looks like, rather than what your eye looks like. You have to really concentrate and try to get the exact shades and tones that you see in the mirror. Oh and the eyes should be placed at around the middle of the head standardly.
