Just coming to offer my congrats on teh IOW banner! Knew that would be a forerunner when i saw the sketch! The rest of your work is lovely too... I especially love the dreamweaver chow piece... kind of mucha meets Klimt. No real crits or suggestions, I think you seem to be finding your way pretty well.. Have you seen Michael Hampton's figure drawing book? I've studied from a lot of anatomy books (loomis, bargue, hogarth, bridgman) and I really like how Hampton tackles anatomy from an artistic point of view.
Loving your line work. It must take for ever to do! Did you finish the clockwork doll? I really like that peice, the only thing is that round brass thing in the top right looks a bit rushed and misshapen. Lovely work though
Wow wow wow I haven't been here in a few days and all of sudden there's a bunch of comments!! I'm so excited I squealed like a Twilight fan at Comic-con!
Velocity Kendall: Wow, thank you so much! That just made my day
Valyavande: Ah thank you! I'm so glad you like the flow in that one- that was my main focusAgh and you are very right- legs are one of my big weaknesses. I've been having a lot of fun studying torsos lately, but I definitely need to switch over and give the legs studies some love!
Rengin: I'm so thrilled about the comment about color- I feel I struggle a lot in that area, so it makes me very happy to hear that I get it right sometimesI really liked your piece for the IOW challenge- I look forward to seeing you in more!
Revidescent: Thanks for the heads up about that font lol- I fixed that d/kYou don't know how excited it makes me to hear that you think my stuff would make good illustrations/posters- right now I'm really just a hobbyist/wannabe pro. I did major in art at a little local school, but I haven't felt that my work was good enough to pursue anything really so lately I've been ramping up the studying and really trying hard to improve. I feel like I've leveled up a little with that entry for the IOW banner! You're right, I need to start practicing with traditional methods more to keep pace with the digital!
Shorinji Knight: Thank you!! I'm honored you think so
Sillirien: I don't mind at all if you subscribe- I'm thrilled! I don't think anybodys ever subscribed to my SB before!
zephyri: Hey there fellow new IOW'er!! Thank you so much... I looooved your dragon piece! I visited your SB as well and I think your work is really amazing- I was shy and didn't leave a comment but I'll have to fix thatI don't think I've seen Michael Hampton's book- I'll have to check that out! Loomis and Hogarth are my current favs
I really look forward to seeing more of your stuff in IOW (I just love that new weekly)
GEB: Thank you!! It does take a long time, but it's my favorite part of pictures usuallyI do need to fix that brass thing at the top, it was totally not round lol- keep getting distracted by other pieces
Here's some sketches for the current IOW- Ragnarok book cover! And a very messy lineart wip that I worked on allll night (so sleepy). It still needs a lot of work- I wish this week wasn't so crazy busy for me!![]()
Update on Odin Vs Fenrir! This ones been tough- really pushed me out of my comfort zone-wish I'd had more time to work on it.
Really love your line art, great style! Thought that the colour choices you made for your IOW's were just fantastic. Ragnarok is looking like another winner to me!
Congrats on the IOW banner, well deserved, a really nice image. Also liking the new Ragnarok image, another winner i think.
Thanks a lot guys!!
Here's a really rough sketch for this weeks IOW- theme is "the end of a journey"
Oh damn. This sketchbook makes me want to do studies so hard... You've got amazing skills and I love this rough sketch on last one!)
Really great lines usage - maked with feeling, sensitive.
Also congrats with IOW bannerBeautyfull work!
IOW banner = killer. Everything is lovely in here.. keep it up!

Vumi: yeah!! study study for the win... actually I need to get back to doing regular studies too heh heh

tsabu: Thanks!
Vulgar': Thank you so much
Update with some lineage...
Finished IOW...
You have a really nice style and the anatomy always is very solid.
However it would be interesting to see you would do without outlines. Right now the the shading is not very readable on its own.
I don't know if this is just your style but your colors are often a tad on the muddy side so maybe you should work on that too![]()
Xelar: thanks! yeah, I've got a lot of things that I need to work on lol
Here's a little backlog of studies- I've discovered the joys of portrait studies in the "what does everyone look like" thread in the lounge![]()
Great work. I loved the portraits of the CA people! You seem to be a student. Where are you studying?
Jacob Kobryn: Thanks! I'm glad you liked the ca portraits, they were a lot of fun to do (will definitely be doing more) I would say I am still a student, although I actually graduated from college several years ago, so really I'm studying on my own ha ha. I did major in art in school (at a small local college with not much of an art program) but I got derailed from art a bit after graduating because of having to find a full time job and work, so now I'm getting back on track and studying whenever I have a free moment
Here's two sketches- one for an IOW that I didn't finish in time, and the other for the IOW this week- "Crossing the Marshes". I think I'm going traditional for this one (on the inks anyways, can't use my paints cause I'm moving soon and they're being packed away)
super cool stuffs, i love all the linework! awesome sb
dlincoln83: Thanks!
Finished IOW. We've had a bunch of grey rainy days around here lately- I think thats what inspired me lol.
Looking awesome as always! Those are watercolors with some tweaks in photoshop? or just simple watercolors?
btw sorry for stalking you for so long without comments and etc.![]()
Open for commissions......just PM me.
I love it that your IOWs always have such a storybook quality to them, it's great! Makes me want to go back to inking some of my drawings.
I can't help but wonder, are you planning to do something job-wise with all the studies that you do?
Damn. Too good! I'm subscribed![]()

I love watching your process, particularly from line work to color. Really beautiful illustration work dreoilin.
Fallenangel: Thanks!! Haha that's okay, I stalk your sketchbook tooThe crossing the marshes picture is actually just an ink drawing colored entirely in photoshop. I'm happy it looks like it could be real watercolor
Rengin: Glad you think so- you should totally go back to inking! I was doing all mine digitally, but having gone back to traditional inking is so much more fun! As far as my studying goes, I just want to keep improving so that hopefully I might be good enough to do this professionally some day.
witcrack, Lhune, Sean McClain: Wow! Thanks very much guys!!
Well it's been way too long since I posted in here, but getting married and moving have taken up a lot of my time lately!!I'm back to devoting all my spare time to art though. Been slacking on the studies, but here's some stuff I've been working on while gone... a picture I did for my wedding guest book, a pic that's already been posted in the cc forum (hopefully improved with some excellent advice from Velocity Kendall), and two wips

Nice water colors and clean line work. I like painting in the first post the best.
Make a sketchbook happy, feed it a tip to improve!

nice sketchbook..like it alot.....
Firstly, congratulations for your wedding. Secondly, I really like the updates. You have solid skill of telling stories. Thirdly, I'm anticipating to see how that wips will beEspecially like the concept where there's that man and a heart-fruit and a snake.
Keep it up![]()

Pigeonkill, williams73: Thanks!
Witcrack: Thanks a lot man! I'm still working on those wips (the heartfruit one with the snake is almost finished) Telling a story in a picture is one of the most important things to me, so I work really hard at that, glad you think I'm doing okay with it!
Got distracted from my other pictures by the Art Order princess of mars challenge. I came on board pretty late with it, so I'm just doing something pretty simple so that I can hopefully finish in time (aghh it's pretty boring too lol). I really liked the image of Dejah Thoris at the end of the book waiting for John Carter to come back. Here's my sketch...
And some lines...
