I left her nudity as safe for work as I could stand.
I'm trying not to use black at all. I think it is helping.

What do you mean by no nudity? T-T A faerie should be naked...
Is mine pg-13 enough? should I image link it?
it was so hard to stop on this one... but here it is, 3 hrs PS, comments very welcome =)

Caleb -- Not sure if that looks like a fairy to me, but I can almost hear a screech as it pops out, I like itLove the frog too!
Helios-- I like the energy colors you've got there, nice contrast! good pose too, although I think she might be falling forward a bit
Here's mine. almost didn't remember to cover the fairy boobs with goop --- hopefully this meets the nudity restriction!

This here topic has the potential to be very, very awesome. I've covertly been working on it for months and now I have a good reason to actually put pencil to paper and work on it.

There you go, added an ear, wings, and fixed the nose shadow so it didn't look like she's screaming. Look a little more traditional now?
more readable as a fairy now Caleb, although I don't think that there was any real need to do so -- I think its perfectly valid to interpret 'fairy' as you wish!
I kinda liked the screaming expression she had before, but the new one is good too -- more of a curious, awakening look which fits.
psycho -- nice use of the leaves for scale and atmosphere
Jiva-- interesting figure -- what is that light coming out of her forehead?
either way, she's food.
Trying to get back to doing this more regularly. Maybe eventually get better at painting.
An hour or so in PS

Congratulations...its a fairy

The Sketchbook: Life through Line
Ok, my fairy's wings haven't popped out of the chrysalis yet. They would be all shriveled and wet. She's having some trouble getting out anyway....

Sketchbook
"Beliefs are rules for action"
"Knowledge is proven in action."
"It's use is it's meaning."
Here's mine. Kinda blah, though. The figure needs more movement. Right now it looks like she's about to scratch her butt and find a place to pee. But I think the best part of working on this was when that owl appeared in that dark smudge. I think I could make something out of this.
Good idea for a sketch challenge, by the way.
Why do I keep doing that glowing hole in the clouds thing?

trying a new technique combining a fast zbrush sculpt and then overpainting it.
not sure if its answer the no nudity rule, if it doesnt, let me know, i'll erase it.
edit - i first did the version below, what do you think, which one is better?

I am really loving some of the entries here.
Eurayo: Very nice jorb. I like the contrast between the chrysalis and the sky.
benkashmir: Your entry is mindblowing. I'm afraid to post mine once I finish it now, thanks to you. As if Grand Theft Auto IV wasn't enough to prevent me from ever finishing this.
Well i bought yesterday my wacom so... i've done no color and no lineart, just sketch... i need bad critiques to improve

Took about 2hrs... Still not happy with it but, I've got other work to do Hehe.
Mitze- Amazing, I love the pose and colors. Any references? or all just from your head? Anyway KUDOS
Leprechaun- Good color scheme. I'm kind of lost in the cacoon area though, I can't really put it all together, but good work none the less.
benkashmir- nice composition and creative cacoon, I like! I think the anatomy is a bit to thick in some parts but overall the shading is awsome.
Eurayo- creepy! reminds me of brom maybe?
armando- I think yours is my favorite so far, very funny take on the subject.
Heckedy Peg- Gross! but cool...
EBrown- Very good greyscale, I think the wings are my favorite part
heLiOS di PiERO- Great pose, nice dynamic lighting , I think it'd be cool if you worked with that blue pool more, and added more highlights over the model.
