    SVA Animation or Computer Art?

Ok Im going to apply for SVA in the summer and heres my problem. I already sent in an application for Animation. They are just waiting on my transcripts which i will send as soon as i finish my spring semester at my local community college in june. I applied for animation thinking it covered everything, but now that i have researched about computer art, it seems they are 2 different fields. So is animation strictly 2d traditional and computer only 3d? The website says that animation teaches both 2d and 3d, but then whats the deal with the computer art department. Im confused. What i want is training in both traditional 2d and 3d with more emphasis on 3d, but when i look at the animation curriculum seems like they are only 2d. I want to work for Pixars or Dreamworks in the future, so any advise would be greatly appreciated. thank you

There was some discussion of the two programs a while back here.

I think computer art divides into 3D computer animation and special effects. Animation major at SVA i think is mainly 2D but Computer animation is mainly 3D with a little 2D. If you look here http://www.svacomputerart.com/studentwork.html Thats the Computer art major.
Im going to apply this fall for SVA computer art because it seems like the disney Pixar movies, not the regular Animation major. I was confused when i first saw the two majors too but im pretty sure that Computer animation is the major to do mainly 3D work.
Call admissions and ask just to make sure.

I visited a month or so ago and can confirm what the others said. Animation is primarily 2d, with a little 3d, while Computer Arts is 3d with a bit of foundation 2d.

thanks a lot guys for the info. I think im going to also go in for computer animation. I really want to also do traditional, but the way i see the world going i guess 3d is the way to go. im pretty sure i can still learn traditional along the way also.
