Red face Cooking with Idiot - SignUP

This is the sign-up thread for the future episodes of Cooking with Idiot: A mentoring thread. This will hopefully allow me to keep better track

    For Reference:
    My Blog: http://www.crayonboxofdoom.blogspot.com
    My Sketchbook: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...ewpost&t=56810
    My Demonstration Thread: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=74478
    Episode One: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=107208
    Episode Two: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=116878

    ---
If you are interested please sign up here and provide the following information:
    1. Sketchbook and/or Blog link. Chances are I won't select anyone who doesn't have one or the either, so make one if you haven't already and get posting
    2. What it is you think I can help you learn.
    3. Will your schedule allow for weekly exercises?
    4. What is your favorite kind of ice cream.

This is not a first come first serve basis. Please don't be offended if you aren't selected right away, I will be looking for specific things in order to facilitate my inadequacies in teaching. Each "episode" will continue for about a month and then I will pick new people for the next.

    Thanks!

    Edit:

    2. I really need to learn more about color and working with the digital medium. Also, maybe some composition help.

    3. The next few weeks might be hectic, but I think I could do simple assignments, leading into more complex around May.

    4. Either plain vanilla soft serve or Strawberry Shortcake.

Hello, my name is Levi. I'm from Wisconsin and currently studying animation with an emphasis on illustration. I feel my digital skills are a bit lacking especially when it comes to environments and I want to improve on this area.

http://bluefiasco.blogspot.com there isn't a whole lot of stuff up there, but i'll be scanning several drawings sometime this week.

A stronger skillset with digital mediums and creating environments

In short, yes it will. I do have class, but I have enough time to do weekly exercises.

My favorite type of ice cream... I would say french vanilla, but I've been on a bit of a mint chocolate chip cycle lately.

Thanks and looking forward to working with you,

    Levi

    2. I can see in your work a strong sense of the play between light and shadow, something I struggle with constantly. Also, your brush strokes are loose and painterly, something I've been wanting to practice with more and incorporate into my style.

    3. Yes.

    4. I don't eat ice cream. I believe this is the part where most people point at me and start screaming witch.

1-http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=114062 just click on the link in my sig

2-Help with Enviornmenting. To be completely honest I'm not interested in being a Concept artist but using the skills towards world building for stories/comics. The skills of speed painting and enviornment design I think would be a usefull if I could get a workflow set up. Also though I would like to bridge that gap between just my work and "pro" work I see that some of the stuff for example on my skbk page could be considered middle stage images so I'm also interested in pushing something to a nice finished polish. I'm really looking to learn what I can from you.

    3-I would make time

4-something with peanut butter, and or brownies

Just wanted to add thanks for the opportunity I've already learned alot just from your skbk and your videos. Also wanted to add Extra-thanks for the recent video w/ Alan Tew it was Tew-tastic

    1.Here is my SB

    2. I think you can help guide me in my further studies of environments, atmospherics, hue/value/chroma, and form. Kinda general, but I'm just trying to "push it" more in my pieces. Every day, I'm having little epiphanies looking at the light/shadow systems in the sky, and how they relate. My pieces are improving, but I think you could help me understand these relations between object color, light, and shadow even more. I think you can help me learn more of what to look for when doing my studies and observing weather.

    3. Yes.

    4. Chocolate chip mint.

    2. I´ve been always so amazed at your enviorments that´s one thing i really would like to learn from you, second would be Color / Digital Painting, i´ve been following some of your Peer Proj. Exercises. but i´m not finished yet with all. and third some anatomy training would come in handy if your got the time...

    3. Weekly exercises was what i was expecting btw when does the mentoring starts? because i´m going to be out of town (with no computer, no scanner, no internet) until the 26 /27 of this month

    4. Rum raisin and every ice cream with fruits flavors in it, specially Lemon.

    Idiot,

    sweet.

Link to my sb is in my signature.

I, like ChaoticKnight, have trouble with colors, a little uncomfortable with the digital medium, and composition.

I am currently unemployed so yes, yes and yes, I can do weekly assignments.

    2. I'd love to be able to do speedpaintings for recreational purposes, something along those lines:

    http://conceptart.org/forums/showpos...postcount=4573
    http://conceptart.org/forums/showpos...postcount=4549

I'm not aiming for doing any highly detailed and finished pieces right now, because honestly I know jack about choosing colors and values.
All in all, I'd like to learn a thing or two about how to choose colors that go along with each other and especially how to spot all those colors that are actually there.
I have to admit, the first time I heard skincolor is not just some random pink, but actually a crazy mixture of yellow, red, green, blue and who-knows-what-else, I felt like I've been blind all my life. xD

    3. Yes, definately. 2h per week minimum, about 3h/week on average.

    4. Stracciatella+peppermint owns them all! : D

    3. Of course! I would cram in daily excersizes if I had too. Not that hard for my to balance artwork and schoolwork. Although my artwork is the much heavier pile.

    2. I mainly need to polish my understanding in composition and design and getting use to using textures and getting better with color. My paintings looks like skittles.

    3. Yeah I can manage weekly assignments. Anything for you Tom.

    4. Any flavor that is good I am down for. I am cutting back on the ice cream though. I don't want diabetes, I think that is how you spell that.

    2. I'm majoring in animation but I LOVE illustration. My dream is to become a concept artist. I know it's insane but I want it. Bad. Ideally, I would like to work on digital illustration. This would include all the big stuff like character design and environment studies. I find a lot of my work is dictated by whim and I would really like more control. I think this would improve my compositions, color choice, and technical drawing.

In other words...I will obey. I'm really grateful to anyone who will take the time to teach. I think it's wonderful. And I'm not afraid of a crit or to return the favor.

    3. Oh yeah, especially with summer coming around. I need deadlines.

    4. One word: Chocolate.

    Thanks for your time!

    2. What it is you think I can help you learn.
Composition, quick idea devolpment, handling colour, getting a right rhythm for painting, getting to know the right people, inspiration, enviroments and getting me off the bad habits I've managed to get.

    3. Will your schedule allow for weekly exercises?
    Yes.

    4. What is your favorite kind of ice cream.
    Banana-chocolate, yummy.

2.What you can help me learn:
I'd say quite a bit! Specifically I'd like to get better at environments, as it's plain to see that many of my characters exist in a vacuum. I also love how many of your digital works feature the mark/brushwork prominently while still effectively conveying form and light... That's also definitely something I'd like to work towards!
I also feel that having assignments is the best way for me to grow as an artist, I'm a deadlines man, that's for sure!
    3. Yup, draw and paint every day!
    4. I like butter pecan, which makes me the most geriatric 24 year old on the planet.
