Hello everyone, I'm [A'B], welcome to my sketchbook

I'm studying to become an architect and drawing is one of my hobbies. The reason I decided to join conceptart and start a sketchbook is simply because I want to get better in things I like so much, not to please others but just for the joy I get by constantly overcoming myself.

If you have some comments or crits that can help me improve, please do not hesitate and feel free to do so

Let's get started!

It's been almost a year since I draw something serious by free hand, so in order to get back in track I'm gonna start with the basics. I know it's more of the same we get to see every day and this sketchbook might be boring to see (at least just in the beginning, it's a promise).

The first drawing is based on some sketches in one of my Nathan Goldstein's books. Good exercice for loosen the hand.
The second one is my first drawing of a hand ever which didn't turn out that bad, I think (looking forward to improve, of course).

Welcome, A'B! Nice start, I like your drawings a lot! Especialy first one with the manikins. The hand is also ok, just put more contrast in your pieces and they will rock! Keep up!

welcome! This is a great place to push yourself to learn a lot about drawing. But you have to push push.

The manikins are a good starting point, but I find them a bit too static to use frequently. The whole point of using them is to develop dimension in your drawings, so copying them from a book isn't a good idea. Still, it looks as if you have good lines and proportions

The hand again is proportioned, but lacks freedom. Its a real manikin's hand. Still its a good study to begin with. Like Ulver said, push the contrast. Always try and get a little pure black in your drawings,

omg I'm studying architecture as well hurray!! and drawing is my hobby to!!!

yer your manikins are great and unfortunatly your hand lacks proportion but your off to a sweet start. Practice Practice... those who work hard become great.

Of course I'm taking your comments into consideration... and yes drawing from pictures just can't be compared to drawing from life... anyway as I said, things here might start a little slow, first i need to get used to draw by free hand again... i'm just warming up, and then pld: ...
