Hey, Cool idea!
I see the sheep in the head, but I'm not really sure what to make of the body. It looks kinda like a cockroach but not really. Whats the blue thing? Is it supposed to be standing bipedily?
As for the shading...Just determine a light source and fill in the shadows accordingly. The forms are pretty simple and you don't have alot of different textures going on so it should be pretty straight forward. Break the body and limbs into spheres and cylinders to determine how light will "wrap" around it describing the form.

Hmmm...i guess i should explain my version more...eh..well its a sheep thats put in a machine and "plugged in" creating energy (ala the matrix). The blue thing is an interpretation to show the energy. The cockroach robot is completely separate from the sheep but they are they are connected...if that makes any sense...bipedal yes.
thanks for the advice on the shading. just a follow up what is a good color to shade copper with?

A good color to shade anything with, is simply a darker value of the local color.
Your not going to describe "copper" so much with the colors you choose as you will with the rendering properties. You'll have to make the light behave on the surface as if the surface is shiny metal.
This means the highlights will be bright and sharp edged. Also the reflected light (the light bouncing back into the shadow side) will be brighter and larger causing the "core shadow" (the specific edge where the light turns to shadow, usually creating a darker strip) to appear thinner and darker by contrast.
Thats kinda alot to take in, hope i'm making sense...
