    Concept: Coconut Crusher

…This Morning to Trinity College, where the roguish and not altogether trustworthy Captain Charles Mulligan, lately unaccountably Knighted by His Majesty, is to present to tout Dublin the fruits of his labours in the uncharted regions of the South Seas. Rumours abound of new & exotick species that Mulligan has conveyed from the many islands there; of enormous insects, talking horses, and tiny homunculi.
The publisher Motte availed me of the gist of one exhibit presented by said Capt. at the Trocadero in London; a curious creature that eats only the Cocoanuts of its tropickal home, and lacking either the brute strength or sheer weight to effect access to the soft & edible parts within, must contrive to split the shell by other means. As a well placed blow with an axe can crack open any impenetrable Nut, so does this creature use the axe-like bony occipital crest furnished it by Nature to split the shell by grasping the cocoanut fast between its paws & ramming said Nut hard upon its head. The air of these tropical isles is said to be thick with the crack of shells and the calls of triumph (or pain) of these strange animals.

Diary entry, Jonathan Swift, 23 March 1723

Don't let their big sparky eyes and cute yellow fur fool you , these critters tend to be really aggressive when approached . These guys spend all day munching on coconuts. If the husk is still green , they will chew on it till they get to the nut , which they then easily break using their strong jaws and teeth , drink the water and scrape ,then eat the coconut meat. They easily climb coconut trees and then use their upper arms to twist the coconut until it becomes loose and falls down .

    Concept: Red Spotted Snapper Jaw
The illustration above was created by Jonathan Andrews after his trek through the Endless Isles of Croatia IV. The illustration came with the following text:

"The isles of Croatia IV are full of interestingly Earth-like plant life. The islands are covered in palm-like plants with seeds exactly like coconuts. This is strange indeed. But just as strange are the creatures, the monstrous titans of the islands. The name of these titans are the Red Spotted Snapper Jaws. They are like all of the Snapper Jaws in that they have an upper mandible, solid forelimbs, and two sets of thin pointed hind legs. The Red Spotted Snapper Jaws are unique in their purely coconut diet. Their eating style is shown in the picture attached. The reason they can shoot the juices from their tubes is to feed their young, who would not be able to digest the husks. They seem to be able to swim as well though I've never seen one attempt it, I wonder if the tubes are helpful in any way. I will send a new letter when I find out."

    Concept: The Rocky-Rumped Pengrack
The Rocky-rumped pengrack is quite strong and agile despite its stout appearance. This amusing hog-sized creature uses its specialized middle finger to slice low hanging coconuts from their stalks. After pressing the nut slightly into the sand or soil, and walking around the nut several times, the pengrack turns its stoney posterior toward the nut and sits on it repeatedly in a most determined way until the nut cracks. The pengrack then uses its long curved incisors to efficiently remove the meat from the crunched coconut. In areas where the pengrack is common, local children can sometimes be seen selling husked coconuts to tourists who wish to observe the creature's antics.

    Concept: Nut Breaker
The Nut Breaker received its name from its peculiar way of cracking coconuts. While using its thick tail to help it climb coconut trees, it is also used by males as a sign of verility and dominance (the larger the tail, the better). This little animal is very defensive about the area which it occupies because of the scarcity of coconuts in which it lives. Speculations about its origins have been mentioned in books but no one seems to agree in the background of this animal. A group of western activists claim that its facial expresions resemble those of human beings too closely to ignore and that its mannerisms while eating mirror the ones of the humans that inhabit that region. There is a constant fight between religious figures and activists claiming the origins of this animal and its total extermination has been attempted in the past[/QUOTE]

    Concept Tropical Coconut Cruncher
The Coconut Cruncher is a species of crustacean and was once a water animal that has now migrated and adapted to live on land. The creatures have been stranded on an unknown group of islands somewhere by the Galopagos Archipelago and have nothing else to feed on but cococuts. These creatures have evolved into highly skilled coconut hunters and feasters. The Coconut Cruncher foreges by easily scaling trees with its frog, and monkey like hind limbs. It uses it's tail, which has a claw like gripping device, to pluck the survival seeds from the trees of life. The Coconut Cruncher makes its way back down the tree with ease and proceeds to use it's claw like hands to open the coconuts. The Coconut Crusher has two claws, a larger one for doing the actual crushing if it already did not use the tail device, and another smaller claw is used for scavenging and picking up pieces. The Coconut Cruncher also has a perfect armormed body for dealing with the rugged beach terrain, strong flat teeth for further coconut crushing and grinding up food like a cow. The Coconut Cruncher can also use it's tail as a weapon by using it as a club when holding a coconut inside. The male Coconut Crunchers have ramming horns on the front of their head that they use in combat when competeing for female species during mating season which is everyother month.

Coconnoneers are territorial creatures living in the close of the ocean and sea waters. Usually one male has few females and huge piece of the beach where he can find some food. They eat small fishes and seaweed, but their favorite meal are coconuts. They crash them on tree trunks or stones, but they can use them also for protection. They launch them lwith huge speed......

The Chopper is a species of a squirrel that long ago drifted on a fallen tree to a tropical island. It had to adapt in order to survive and over the ages it evolved to be able to feast on the only kind of nuts around and fight aggressive predators.

These guys love climbing up the coconut tres and prising off coconuts with their antlers making them drop to the sandy floors below. They eat the coconuts is its entirety, crunching through the hard shells with their powerful snapping jaws and bone like beeks leaving nothing before heading but to the cool waters of the ocean.

    Concept: Cabana Sloth

The Cabana Sloth, wich lives in the caribbean, is the most slow-moving animal in the world. It eats only coconuts, which it crushes with its massive jaws. They can be seen hanging in palm trees or sitting on the beach, but never actually moving; they supposedly deceive predators by mimicking a stuffed flokati rug.

    Concept: Bermuda Sand Bear

The Bermuda Sand Bear is a mammal that lives in the areas surrounding the Bermuda Triangle. It crushes coconuts to feed it's young, but it is omnivorous and also eats crabs and small fish. It is able to climb trees to reach the coconuts. This is how the young are fed until they have the strength to climb and break their own coconuts.

    Concept: The Hamlacong
The Hamlacong is a bull-sized animal that lives on a remote equatorial island. It has two spiked extra limbs which pound its only food, coconuts, into pieces. Then it stomps on the large pieces with its cleated hooves, creating a mash it can eat. Often the Hamlacong will mash the coconuts and leave them alone to ferment a while. The fermented mash gets them pleasantly tipsy.

    Concept: Lesser Krootik

The Lesser Krootik is an inhabitant of any area with palm trees as its diet consists completely of coconuts. It grabs the coconuts out of the tree mid flight and peels off the outer shell with its claws. It then cracks the coconut open in its mouth, swallows and lets the pieces slowly disintegrate in a mild acid its over sized crop. The group in Hawaii has recently become quite a pest as it has started to eat basketballs and regurgitating bits of half eaten coconut all over the place. An easy fix is to pain a bowling ball brown and hot glue bits of shed dog fur to the out side, then leave it out int he open.

    Concept: Lethargolopithicus
Lethargolopithicus is a large lazy animal who moves around using its muscular arms and powerful back to drag its weaker lower torso behind it. Lethargolopithicus evolved to rarely need its legs due to its top position in the hierarchy of predatory animals within its environment. It also rarely needs to hunt for prey because coconuts, its main food source, fall abundantly to the ground throughout the year. They sometimes will drag themselves to the shallows of the ocean and spear fish and other sea creatures with their sharp overgrown nails. Through years of evolution the skin and muscles on the top of the head faded away and the skull became extra hard and exposed due to the Lethargolopithicus' habit of shading itself under palm trees and having the coconuts fall onto their heads. They lounge in the sun often though, and despite their melanin rich skin, they are prone to sunburn. They use their large flat teeth held in place by strong gums and muscles to crunch coconuts and eat the fruit in its entirety. The milk and flesh of the coconut provides protein, fat and sugar...and the outside lining adds fiber to their diet.

    Concept: Short Tailed Razor Belly

While the Razor Belly's large front teeth cope with most of the seeds and nuts with ease, they are no match
for its most sort after food- the humble coconut. The razor belly climbs to the top of tall coconut trees, carefully strips the husk from
nut, wraps its body around, locking its feet together, and leaps from the tree. When impact is made with the stoney ground
the sharp boney spines on the underbelly of the lizard splinter the coconut. The heavily armoured back of the Razor Belly
generally protects the lizard from serious injury, although occasionally reckless jumping can lead to fatal mishaps

    Concept: coconut cruncher
the coconut crunchers live on a series of remote volcanic islands. they live and eat around the volcano, dipping their faces into lava pools to scoop up the organism that hide there. when a female is pregnant, she and her mate venture down to the beaches where it is safe to birth their ugly babies. the newborns have a voracious appetite and the mother's milk supply must keep up. eventually the offspring become to large and glutonous for her body to sustain. it is then the males job to retrieve coconuts, as they are nutritionally equivalent to the female's milk. they have a thick skull which is used to ram coconut trees and other males. to protect their spine, they have gills on their upper back that inflate pads between the vertabrates of the neck. the adults will eat the green flesh off (the kids won't eat anything green) the coconut and crunch it up for the young ones to eat. crunching the coconuts is also an entertainment tactic that doesn't take the male much effort. bonus.

    Concept: Green Cruncher

This strange, flightless bird can only be found on the remote Easter island. The diet of the green cruncher consists primarily of fruit, including coconuts. With it's incredibly strong beak, the green cruncher cracks open coconuts that have fallen to the ground or steals them from other green crunchers.

    Concept: Coconut Cruncher Caterpillar

The Coconut Cruncher is a giant caterpillar found on a remote island in the south pacific. It was discovered by some stranded sailers who were trying to open up some coconuts. One morning they heard a loud clunking noise and upon investigation they found a pair of 2-foot long caterpillars. Each held a coconut on its head with tiny legs. The males had apparently evolved the ability to hold a coconut on its head and headbutt each other until one of the coconuts are crunched open. The loser slinks away while the winner wins the coconut innards and becomes the dominant male. The sailers were able to survive on the broken coconuts and were very happy....until the Coconut Cruncher Caterpillars emerged from their cocoons as Meat-Eating Moths.

    Concept: Bumby
The bumby lives on larger tropical islands in peace with the local inhabitants. They benefit from the animal by laying large amounts of coconuts on the beaches witch then get crushed by the Bumby. In fact the Bounti company already shown more then usual interest in exploiting the Bumbypopulation on Tahoeti. Although some people think the Bumby is a coconut cruncher he is actually a coconut crusher as you can make up by his latin name, the atolapolos esdarium. (source: wikipedia)

    Concept: Coconut Cruncher
The Coconut cruncher stalks the sandbanks searching for the fallen coconuts in order to get to the milk inside. The milk contains important enzymes and the moist is vital to the survival of the coconut cruncher.
In order to cross the huge deserts in the CC's natural habitat large amounts of the coconut milk is stored in its bladders on the back of the creature for future consumption.

Fozz: I have yet again managed to make a creature not too distant from one of my previous entries. I cant seem to be able to get away from the snake with arm shape just yet. I'll have no problem with a disqualification, I just thought I should post it for participation.

The Parrot Monkey is creature that has a skeletal structure similar to a monkey but possesses a large birdlike head not unlike birds of the parrot family. It uses its large, powerful to crack open coconuts that they have gathered by climbing up the coconut trees with their primate like limbs.
Their skin is covered with a soft feathery fur that turns into actual feathers on the ruff around the neck and the crest of males. They lay eggs as opposed to bearing live young, building their nests high in the trees of the jungles adjacent to the beaches they forage in.

When the coconut falls, it peels the protective skin off of the harder seed inside with its teeth, this is later fed to its offspring. Once it has done this, the Katring rolls the coconut to the nearest medium to large rock and leans it against the rock. Once the coconut is in place, the Katrig retreats a few yards before charging the coconut, smashing it. It drinks as much of the milk as it can get before eating the skin inside the seed, peeling it off with its teeth. Fledgling Katrig, which, like the Platypus, are hatched in an egg, rather than born live. None of the coconut goes to waste, as most Katrig nests are made from left-over coconut seed. Its four pairs of eyes act similar to a chameleon's, in which they can look two ways at any given moments, helping to evade any predators.

    Concept: coconut cruncher
This primitive creature found deep in the jungles of Yucatan, brought to earth while traveling on a huge asteroid millions of years ago. They adapted to their new environment by feasting on the tasty coconuts found spread out in and around the jungle area. They usually wait until the coconut naturally falls from the tree, but if they are really hungry they’ll resort to pounding the palm tree until the coconut falls to the ground. Once it has the coconut in its mouth, it takes approximately three to four hours to completely devour it. Its crunching sound echoing throughout its environment. This coconut cruncher is well protected too. Its body is lined with sharp, venomous spikes which cause instant paralysis, suffocation, and then death.
