    Gardeners of Eden

hey girls, I've been wanting to do this for a long time.
since this community appears to be very helpful I felt like uploading my own works. these are illustrations for a fun project I'm doing on my own. dunno if I'm posting this in the right section but critique center sounds like the place to get.. well critique.
plus I wanted to spare myself being moved from the finally finished section. they kinda still look like sketches even if I'd call them finished.

Nice sketches, they remind me of Mobius' style a bit. In the second image I would re-examine the hand and the way it's holding on to the sickle, and the angle of the sickle.
    Nice work

your lines are PLACED very well, but I'm not feeling any life in these drawings. They feel too.... clinical. I'm pretty sure this is because there's only one weight of line. If you were to go back to these and thicken up some of the lines that are coming towards us then I think these would read much better.

These are great. They remind me of the goblins from the 1977 "the Hobbit" cartoon.

I'll second Binoched's comments about the hands. In both pieces they seem small to me. I would also like to see more anatomical structure in them as well (exaggerated knuckles and meta carpal bones, fleshy stretching and overlaps) since there is a good bit of that everywhere else in the figures.

    Good stuff, Thx for sharing.
    ...my humble and uneducated opinion.

wow guys, you sure a quick. I'm definately seeing all your points.

binoched, your right the hand isn't properly grabbing the sickle. I was more or less making stuff up as I was drawing. just half way through I thought of cutting the character in half with some kind of large tool to match the other one and I tried fitting something in that wrapped round his hip. yeah it shows.. ;P

Lake, see what you mean but I don't think I'm gonna go back at all the lines to get the movement right. I used a gel point pen which didn't give much variety in linethickness. But I'll keep that in mind and thanks for taking the time.

Mute, thanks for the pointers. hands've always been a pain to me. guess I gotta do more studies. or start with a rough sketch. I really appreciate your input.
