Love your style. For the guys in the ice cave, there is a ice structure above the dog which look like a leg with knee and muscle. Is it some kind of coincidence ?

I really love the first piece, tho the clouds seem incongruous with the rest of the piece. Everything else has outlines...perhaps some light graphic elements that say "clouds" would tie the piece together, little swirlly bits, or light spirals coming in from the curves of the clouds or somehting...Anyway, I really do love the piece, just thought I'd find something constructive to add as well

...and yeah, that ice cave pic totally looks like those guys are about to get dumped on by some sort of frozen ice berg god. BEWARE THE ICE POO!

Ya the ice cave is structured with body parts. in the image the legs are on the right, the torso is the shape in the foreground(you can see the shoulder blade and the side of the ribcage) and there is a side of the head with an ear on the left. It's easier to see at the right scale 16"x40".....now what would ice poop look like?

I really need to rework the elephant one there are some issues that need to be fixed

I love your style, very pulpy! Makes me think of "the Shadow" era fiction and Dolye\Burrows.

If I have a crit of the ice cave pieces its not artistic.

- Packs and equipment, Even some weird gadgets. The lines are clean and beautiful but as a viewer I want an idea of how they got there.

great concept with the ice cave, maybe would have made the ice legs look more like natural ice/cave formations (a bit difficult to achieve)

Wow. These are beautiful! You have such an original and whimsical style- I especially love that elephant piece. Though I do feel that there is a little discord with your line work and digital shapes. Such as that interesting robot holding the Martini glass... the glass and the pattern on the curtains don't seem to fit for me. I'm curious- what is your process? Do you hand draw then scan and digitally modify/color?

I would love to see what you do with a more complex composition.

Also- are you familiar at all with Scott Altmann's art? It looks as if you two might draw from the same worlds sometimes.

this is an environment I have been working on for a bit. I'm still trying to find out what this world is all about. It kinda a different style for me but I enjoy making them.

I really like the feel in your work one heck of a lot - the wooden robot thingy and the environment one are particular favourites. You have a beautiful subtle colour sense and your sense of surface design is very sophisticated. I have really enjoyed looking at these.
My only negative observation is that you have not quite 'found your subject'. You are damned close, but the answer is not obvious since the 'Wooden Robot' thing and the 'Environment' are both, in my view, coming from something you are really interested in. But they are so different yet equally successful. There is something here trying to find expression and you have tremendous gifts and sensibility to do justice to it. In my view your energies would be well spent pondering this - because you are soooo close.

chris - thanks for the crit, a lot of these pieces are for projects so the subject is going to wander. However, you do have a point and I will definitely think about what you said
I checked out your website and really like your work - that simple form and moody feel is something that I really admire.

stoph - thanks, The only thing I have published is the elephant and the doc and devil in my student news paper. I would love to sell you a print, alas I know not how

I love your angular like style, and the way you portray colors, its more than amazing, do you use corel painter and photoshop together. I dont know how to use either, but I slowly building a computer to start using them, any tips ?

the ice cave one is really nice, though i kind of like the cropped composition better than the wide format one. It seems to have more focus. but good job nonetheless!

Jes - thanks man, I use lots of textures and lots of layers all on photoshop.(most are based on a scanned drawing). The best thing to do is just play around and use the help when you get stuck. It took a while but thats what I did.

daurri - thanks, the wide format one works better when you see it at its actual size (40"x16")

Ah, I'm getting the picture! I was wrong - seeing this extra work I can see you are very clear about what you have to say and how you say it. You have a really powerful approach that works for many situations. Something you rarely see is 'mood' generated largely by pictorial, graphic means and which can be versatile and subtle as opposed to using stock lighting effects, and you do it beautifully! It would be interesting to hear a little more about your approach to this lovely work.
